, where the guy was apparently reading a weird mix of left- and right-wing extremist lit as well as The Key of Solomon and Lemegeton... What do we think his ideology or goals might have been, in connection with those texts? I know it's not uncommon for terrorists to draw on occult philosophies for their ideologies but why ram your car into a power substation for the Hoover Dam and then shoot yourself? The whole thing just seems so confusing, and I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas about what the occult aspects might mean?

also like. what was he hoping to achieve, lol? seemed to have grand ideas about being a terrorist but he just ruined a gate and then committed suicide... hardly effective "terrorism", my friend.

This person was clearly mentally ill, which makes it disturbing how easily he was able to collect weapons to that level.

If you want to talk about goals, the article says he had "flame throwers" - plural - in his rental car. Not only is that not going to do a damn thing to the Hoover dam, since they moved traffic onto the bridge a decade or more ago, it's basically just a tourist attraction that also generates power. But that populated part of the dam is not where he went. He rams his car into not anything at the substation that matters - just some wire spools and a concrete barrier? Screaming for attention prior to self-harm and this is how he decides to do that. No real plan to speak of as far as I can see, and probably once he rammed his car he hurt himself badly enough that he had a physical shock, spiraled, and committed to the self harm he had promised his family. Really quite sad. This person needed help and was unable or unwilling to get it.

People like this make us look bad because he was not stable enough to be a real practitioner. He might as well have bought a copy of Penn and Teller's "How to Play in Traffic" and let them speculate about his ideologies there as well.
