There seems many different 'types' or classes of spirit and some seem to be of one type but their function and effect , to me , are the basis of classification . I want to write more about that ( later , pressed for time atm ) .
But briefly, to get things going , I will quote what I said elsewhere and then add some specifics to the questions above .

It is the same for me ( Your first two sentences ) . After many years I started referring to the process as a 'download ' - after many years, as , when it happened 'downloads' were not invented yet . I remember a beam of white light hitting me in the forehead , a 'white out' , an energy rush into my ' head' , a noise I could not identify except as chaotic, fast and seeming like a series of different soundings bips, clicks, and ' short wave radio static ' ( back then, that was the only thing I could compare it to ) . Apparent time loss , not to me though I thought the whole process took a few seconds but observers said otherwise ; I was standing there staring 'for ages ' and could not hear the people calling to me .
Decades later , I grabbed a cassette tape of the shelf and out it in the player ... to my shock that sound ( or something very similar to it ) came out the speakers .... WTF is that ! A flatmate came bolting in (as I had it up loud and it was his sound system ) and asked me what I had done to his sound system and shut it off . I told him what happened and he pulled the tape out and looked at it ; ' No wonder ! ' he said and then explained it was a 'computer tape ' with a program on it .

- not anything like Raziel or Asteroth though . I had no idea at the time , it took me decades to , sort of , reverse engineer 'who' it was and what form they were taking ( and the reason for that became very apparent after a fuller examination of my natal chart ) .
I am wondering, if in your experience , you can at times 'access' parts of that download information , either by conscious contact with your 'storage facility ' , or by surfacing from the 'unconscious' spontaneously or in times of need ( especially 'dire need' ) ?

Sometimes a thought, solution or realization come into my consciousness , some times it might be a response to what someone is saying or about to say and they will often ask ''How could you possibly know that ?'' For me , it comes from that 'bank of downloaded info ' either 'somewhere in my head ' or something in my head is connected to it . Its obscure and I can not accurately identify it .
Another 'type of spirit ' ( ughhh I hate these terms ! ) I know well and personally as I was close to her when she was 'alive down here ' , communication can be clear words and conversation 'in my head ' ... I cant actually 'hear' the words but I know what she is saying ( I seem to have this ability with pre - vocal children as well , and when it happens they spark up and get instantly fond of me and attached ) , some times I get images through her , not so much of the physical world .
Then there is 'Big Mum ' she is 'sort of like' the local tutelary spirit , an umbrella of energy over the area and somehow connected to a 'local myth man ' ; Big Mum seems general and I talk to her daily ... Only occasionally I get a reply , even a laugh now and again ... she also receives an offering ; I was introduced to her by my indigenous teacher .
Then there is - the man in the mountain , a mythological feature and person staring out the mountain up the valley ; important teachings come from him about the 'style of Law' in this valley and relates to day to day living and focus on the important issues that arise in this valley ... and the bad things that happen if they are not addressed !
He is ; 'Old man Dreaming ' ... I can sit back in a deck chair in my garden , he is looking right at me , I ask ''Old Man, give me a dream '', take a nap, and he does so .
As time goes on some of these things have 'separated out ' from each other - in the past I just assumed they were some ( well some of them ) some manifestation of HGA concept , in that regard my communication with it was somewhat one way ; sharing 'my' experiences as 'we' did things together ( it gave a feeling of 'never being alone ' ) .
'' He did not look after the women and children ! '' ... 3 times I have given my cabin over to a single mum with baby or a lone expectant mother and slept outside . to me .... 'who would not ?! ' ... but I see them being turned away by some ... and then I see the 'bad luck' those responsible then have to endure . Expectant mothers seem attracted to this area , also down the cliffs to the west immediate of here , in the river , within an interesting side feature of the river , is an old indigenous 'birthing pool'
The spirits and the myth contain important teachings and some specific to where you live !
it worked for 40,000 years here ; 'If you break sacred Law , expect to be punished ' ... so they usually didn't !
