[Opinion] How much money are the owners of the forum making?

Everyone's got one.

If you think that SkullTraill et al are raking it in and drinking champagne while they laugh at us, then you have done a fantastic job of deceiving yourself. Why not do a bit of research and find out how much it costs to run a successful forum? Then at least you would have some facts.

I think it's very disrespectful to think you or anyone should simply be entitled to the books that members share with each other here, and are looking at this like the site owner/staff are out to make money off of you. Regular participation in the forum grants free access to the library, in addition to the paid support. And I think this is a fantastic model. It encourages newcomers to engage in discussion that has the potential to make the forum a better and more diverse place, and it also allows the staff to ban users that they don't think belong to be here.

The list of paying benefactors isn't openly available to the public, and it doesn't need to be. Outside of the expensive hosting fees for such a large forum, operating on a software requiring a paid license, every transaction costs additional fees, and individuals receiving money from any source are required to pay their local governments taxes on that money. I just hope that this site is generating enough money to cover the expenses and keep the lights on, and if it produces a modest profit on top of that then I think it's great, and well deserved.

Off me and you? Nothing right now, I'd imagine.

Probably not as much as BALG forum. I imagine this forum is more a labour of love than anything else. If they're breaking even, I'd be impressed and pleased for them, personally.

Well, I guess we can't all be double-Crowleys.
My, that was one hilarious book!

If @SkullTraill really wanted to monetise this forum, there wouldn't be all these options for accessing the Library for free. Posts like this one or links to free resources like Anna's wouldn't be allowed. Make one post in The Order, and you're in for a week, make 50, and you can leech to your heart's content. One of the reasons for limiting Library access was that at one point, we had 10k members but only 10-20 people who actively and regularly engaged in discussions. Nobody's obliged to pay anything.

I'm a volunteer btw, I don't get paid a nickel.

who would want to be Crowley anyway?

True, now a double-Aquino, tho ...

Yeah, joking aside, I was a mod on one of these kinds of forums many years ago and no one got paid. It was more just an opportunity to give something back and contribute to a place we liked.

It's amazing the kind of things that go on backstage that never make it front of house. It's not just deleting spammers and housekeeping like moving posts to the right section (ahem... 😊). There were all sorts of discussions about treating people fairly and dealing with arguments in threads, about where the site was going and how to make it more appealing, about whether to have a few structured lessons for ppl or publish an ezine, etc.

And then there was having to deal with security attacks (both random and possibly targeted) on the site, and even more bizarre drama like ex-mods still having access to various admin rights and trying to cause the site problems, inter-forum wars/drama, spillage into IRL like people setting up sites to target some site staff/admin and people calling the police on each other, etc.

Also, as Diana says, here (which we didn't have back then) there is the added layer of dealing with the library side of things as well. I imagine a large part of the motivation for this is similar to retro-gaming forums where you're preserving things that would otherwise be lost in the mists of time, which is a good idea, IMO.

Aquino is better .. yes
Someone needs to make an occult-satanist forum called "HELL", where there are zero rules, everyone can post anything, everyone can mock, attack, slander each one via texts and messages, a true chaotic masterpiece. It should be probably on a Tor browser or smth

As Gurdjieff wrote in his introduction to Beelzebub's Tales to His Grandson:

This all-universal principle of living is formulated in the following words:
"If you go on a spree, then go the whole hog, including the postage."
If you've spent the money on something, have no regrets. If you want money, it literally means you lack money. Behave like someone without money and you affect the flow negatively. Another quote, this time from Reality Transurfing by Vadim Zeland:

Neither should you worry about spending money because this is a necessary part of fulfilling your mission. If you have made the decision to spend money on something have no regrets. When you try to save up a handsome sum and spend as little as possible you create strong excess potential because energy has been built up in one place. In this case it is highly likely that you could lose everything. Money should be spent wisely to keep a flow going as potential appears where there is no flow of energy. Wealthy people support charities with good reason as it reduces the excess potential of their accumulated wealth.

Nobody is required to be a benefactor to access the forum. Those of us who have contributed in one way or another do so out of gratitude.

I wrote to Aquino long ago to ask for clarification about those accusations that he was a child molester. I got back a reply that makes me believe he most likely was a child molester. His military career appears to be mostly pointless bureaucratic BS, his written work largely mocked and ignored. Other than doing the job he was assigned to do, the takedown of the Church of Satan, his list of visible magical success wasn't anything remarkable and his fan club has lots of neonazi parallels.

My wife used to run a conspiracy theory forum of the type you describe, where anything goes. What you get is worthless people on drugs, posting nonsense. There was no advantage gained from it, no respect for the freedom to say anything whatsoever. As soon as someone decides to become a pest, your whole online activity is spent giving them attention as they destroy your forum with spam and pornography and anything else they can do to soak up your time.

Money in occultism is directly proportionate to how full of shit you are. Do you talk to the ethereal space beings who gave us dolphins for our spiritual guidance as a species? You would have a huge following and regular checks. Do you represent God on Earth? Billions of followers, your own country too. Study and practice weird shit and share that with others? No money in that. Nobody's making money here.
