If you are referring to the Kabbalah, the technique is most direct if you change your conscious state to the vibration of an appropriate sephira/path.

The described identification characteristics of the sephiroth are cultural rather than universal. This makes validation of the state of consciousness achieved rather difficult - unless you have a competent teacher to monitor you.

When you have developed some sense organs on the frequency levels of that sephira, you may be able to relate consciously to other entities. Not all spirits are kind to humans.

I do a parallel practice that I was shown while meditating.

Doesn't Dion Fortune make some pretty good introductory remarks in her "The Mystical Cabalah"?

This would be Qabbalah with a Q, hermetic. The "spirits" are archetypes represented by different cards in the deck. The way to begin is to learn about the Tarot deck and explore the symbolism of each of the cards. Each of these archetypes/spirits exist in the psyche, so connecting to them is done through meditation. Each card exists on the Qabbalistic ( not Kabbalistic ) tree-of-life.

This gives a nice easy set of instructions:

This looks to be a very good resource:

Let's get back to the original topic. Check the WF library for a link I just posted to a book on pathworking. This is really a subject one needs to research. Questions of this sort in the forum are a bit lazy, as if one expects others to digest the complexity of the occult and feed it to you nice and easy.

In order to cut the crap (needless multiple topics in one) and get back to the OP, check out the Newest edition of Dion Fortunes The Mystical Qabalah, which contains an old excerpt of Society of the Hidden Light discourse on Subjective Pathworkings. As @KjEno186 said, stick to the topic and don't expect Cliff Notes on occult topics. Read the book.

Hopefully it's noted that my initial reply was on topic before I got distracted with the questions.
Yes, I requested comments 6 to 16 be moved to the new thread as soon as @Yazata has time to do so. Your inclusion of Tarot and Tree of Life correspondences are relevant to a discussion of pathworking. The original poster was asking about pathworking for spirits, and another book that comes to mind is Lucifer and the Hidden Demons by Theodore Rose. Aiden Wachter's book, Six Ways, has a guide to entering trance and themes for pathworking. A more advanced area to look into would be the Enochian Aethyrs. However, Tarot is ideal due to the archetypal imagery which serves as a basis for the individual to meditate upon, and it can serve as a means of spirit communication even without the level of trance normally required for pathworking.

Going beyond books, there are many recorded pathworking sessions which people can listen to while in some level of trance work. Perhaps people can post links to their favorites?

Apologies. Hopefully it's noted that my initial reply was on topic before I got distracted with the questions. I'm new here, and I'll be more careful in the future.
I liked the other guy's reply, but there's no need to apologize. Meet snarl with snarl. A little tension and a few flying sparks add a certain vigorous ambiance to discussion.

I always thought that sounded iffy, letting someone else do the pathwork voice-over. Manipulation aside, it seems namby-pamby. I want to encounter powers and potencies on planes other than this, so I bring my chaperone? Kind of like sharing a foxhole with Auntie Bess, no?

I understand that there are in-person meet-ups where the presence of an initiated individual conducting a group pathworking has a 'resonating' effect on others present, making such group workings far more likely for neophytes to succeed initially. As with all such initiatory work, the newly initiated must continue regular practice lest the 'resonance' lose its effect. Now, some might say that it's just group hypnosis, but there are accounts of people under hypnosis doing amazing things.

I have no idea if the hick town I live in would have such a group. And that's the rub, where neophytes may not often succeed on their own without a great deal of perseverance, some kind of assistance, a Zoom meet-up or just an audio recording, could ease someone into the practice.

I tend to be aggressively agoraphobic. So I'm not necessarily a reliable authority.

I did have a one-time friend, though, who went insane after his wife started walking him through Jungian guided-visualization exercises. They had each been into solo-practice, then decided to tweak it into a pair-thing with one driving, as it were. Shortly after really heavy auditory hallucinations kicked in and did not go away. Of course, to say this caused the mishap is hasty. Other factors could have been at work. Still...

Forget the Demonic pathworkings for a minute, even if you are into them. Buy a copy of the newest edition of The Mystical Qabalah by Dion Fortune. The reason I say this is that the qlippothic spheres are adverse forces of the sephiroth.
Qabalah aside ... Some other cultures have their own pathworkings.

What are you or who are you trying to contact? Answering this question will help the rest of us.

In general, most deities are protected by armies, and a head of those armies. Or fae or ghede for that matter.

Depending on the cultural context of the spirit you are trying to contact will help us to effectively answer your question.

Also what tarot or oracle decks or runes you use.

The way I read it is by meditation using the tarot card in front of you, entering light trance by chanting the godnames, Archangel and choir. Then visualize it as a bridge between two castles/temples.
For example, Vav, The Hierophant, between Chokmah and Chesed.
You then observe all visualizations and or thoughts, that relate to either Sephira and the path. Again .. Dion Fortunes newest edition of The Mystical Qabalah should be bought and read.
I determine the necessary path by the Tarot Contemplation Ritual result.
