Singing is as far as I know reserved for Angelic/Celestial workings, as sound carries vibrations better in that realm from what Ive read on it.

Petitions are probably the best way after prepatory immersion. That is, you are immersing yourself into the spirit you wish to work with.
You typically do this by inducing an altered state of consciousness, go into light trance, and chant the deity names or barbarous words.
The petition is usually written out on a small scrap of paper or paper sheet then folded small after writing it out, then signing the back with your name and birthdate that links you to it. The entities are invoked, then you hold the petition up, read it, fold it again and set it on fire over a pre arranged vessel able to hold the heat of paper burning, be wary of fire alarms, and keep water or sand close by.
Fire safety first and foremost. Once the petition burns to ash, let the incense and candles burn out on their own, and then conclude the ritual, c coming back out of trance. This is typically done by use of "triggers" or "anchors".

You may then carry out a ritual which can be dangerous. Ive failed rituals by knocking over candles, forgetting phrases in moments of excitement. So take your time. If you are looking for material results, you're likely going to want to read Demons of Magick or 72 Angels of Magick, or The Magick/Power of Angels and Demons. Ive done this before with goetia or qlippoth with no protection, attempting to evoke. One (Lucifer) dragged my body from lying down on my bed to halfway down the bed. Measures of safety and respect. Ive nearly fainted from circumambulating, or too much heat in the room causing dehydration.
