I'm not sure if this is either really weird or really common, most of my non practitioner friends think it's normal (or as normal as witchcraft could be to them) but any of my practitioner friends/acquaintances tell me it's a bit strange (lovingly). Basically, I brew a cup of tea, open my door, and use the steam from the cup the same way you would use incense, candles/ ext. I'll also use a bell or other instruments while using the tea. I drink it like normal afterwards, ring my bell around the cup, and just wash it. I cant use candles or smoke because i'm a teen that lives with my parents, so I just naturally defaulted to this.

Is this strange at all like some of my friends say, or do ya'll do it too sometimes?

I don't do it with tea, but there's a lot of traditional use of scents to cleanse rooms. Buddhists and a few other groups use bells or chimes to cleanse space as well. Even Christian sects will use frankensence and bells to cleanse the space. I've had a shaman give me plenty of non-smoke scents to cleanse, and many people use lavender to dispel negative spirits, none of it burned.

I wouldn't say it's weird at all relative to other practices. If it works, then it works. Tell your friends they need to expand their horizons.

In Chinese medicine and in Chinese occultism, especially Taoist, tea is used as a remedy that regulates the balance of yin and yang in the human body. Different types of tea have different effects.

A little creativity goes a long way. If it works for you, it works! What others say, is not really that important, it is your practice. Good luck with it and keep practicing if you are into😉
