Neoplotonism is the macro-level topic here. Great stuff (and useful as a lens for goetia.)

Git yo'sef some Plotinus. See The Enneads on the Eudaimon, Porphyry, and also the big boss of Neoplatonism, Iamblichus' 'On the Mysteries' (De Mysteriis) where he discusses the Personal Daimon.

I find it odd you asked about dæmons here, rather than on the appropriate section of the forum, as here is to ask about books, not per se the knowledge related to or in them(unless it relates to the discussion of said book or books of the same theme).

Anyway, if you want a rambling and highly dubious book I would say "The Daemon" by Anthony Peake. It is an interesting reading to see his view, and if you can ignore some of the rambling, the reading itself can be fun.
Though I don't think it is exactly what you seek.

I will admit that I do not really focus on this subject, so I don't have many books about it.

discusses primarily the concept of the parhedros, a kind of supernatural assistant, in the Greek Magical Papyri (PGM) but also what Plotinus, Plutarch, Porphyry, and Iamblichus thought about daimons in general. Free download.

There's a book by David Gordon White that is titled "Dæmons are forever: Contacts and Exchanges in the Eurasian Pandemonium".

It is very lengthy, as if someone wanted to squeeze as much knowldge as they could per paragraph, so it may not be the cup of tea or everyone. I myself didn't read much of it yet exactly because of how extensive it is, but as far as I read it seems to speak of the linguistic and perhaps social-religious mix and match of cultures of the area(Eurasia), making connections to daemons, the concept of daemons or just using them as euphemism.

I myself am still unsure as I haven't read enough to decide, and for someone like me such writing style is sometimes too dense for me to constantly focus.
