Actually, there is a band-aid solution for your problem (and anyone in the UK dealing with this). If you install a browser extension called LibRedirect you can make your browser automatically redirect you to a Rimgo instance, which is an Imgur frontend.
You'll want to make sure the extension is replacing embedded content for it to work, like this
I don't live in the UK so I used a VPN to put me there (connecting to imgur in this way actually makes the site spit out an "we're overloaded" error rather than the "content not available in your country" message for me, but still). With the extension enabled, the image may fail to load initially and look like this
In that case, you can right-click to forcibly load the image, which for me ends up loading the image.
If that doesn't work you may still be able to open it in a new tab form the context menu and see it that way.
