Is adopting a neutral stance in the battle and relationship between white and black, good and evil benevolent, I'm curiuos to hear others take on this? With an understanding that white and black are different levels on the same spectrum

Whatever belief it is that motivates any action in you, is of a moral weight to you. Either good you approach or evil you avoid.

There is more than white and black, more than all the shades of gray. The question is also how you balance the purple against the green, and the yellow against the blue, if we want to stay within that metaphor. You cannot "choose" or "balance" evil in any way but in words. Everyone does only what at least a part of them considers good, and only for that reason alone.

I choose my own moral framework. I do not subscribe to good and evil, nor a battle between the two. That is a religious holdover. Some believe in it, I choose not to. To each their own.

Can I carry the choices I make? Do the choices I make create dissonance in me, or do they keep me coherent with my internal fire? To me it really is that simple.

This is how I make decisions without the guilt of religious baggage, or adopting someone elses moral framework:

Do I have the full context of a situation?
Do I have/or need consent from myself and/or others?
Can I carry the consequences of action/inaction?
Am I choosing from clarity, or emotion?

Maybe this helps someone, if not, burn it.

This is too abstract to be meaningful. What is the "battle between white and black" as it actually manifests in your life? What would it mean for you to "take a side" in this supposed battle? What would it mean for you to "remain neutral?"

Well, then ethical at least, I was inaccurate. The point is, if you consider a certain decision ought to be made then - within whatever ethical framework you are using at the moment to motivate that "ought" - this decision is good. This has nothing to do with any notions of objective good, mind you, just kind of how ethics work at the most atomic level.
