The thought came to me recently “Is ‘celebrity’ some sort of magic?” or to put in another way is “celebrity” reinforced by unconscious/inadvertent acts of magic by ordinary people. Is there more to celebrity than merely the regular assumptions of human psychology and societal group dynamics?

Funnily enough I’ve bumped into a few celebrities recently and so have some of my closest friends. Perhaps people in the comments can relate to this - some celebrities you run into appear normal and ordinary, you hear people say “X is just a normal dude” or some other iteration of the same idea. On the other hand you might run into a celebrity and they might appear otherworldly in both appearance and manner, “graceful, glowing, etc.”. These seem to be the two main reactions when us ordinary people meet/see a celebrity. It is the latter encounter with celebrity that I’m interested in here.

My girlfriend was recently invited to the same party as the British actress Emma Watson. I asked her what Emma Watson was like she proceeded to describe a near encounter using adjectives such as, “radiant, glowing, graceful, otherworldly, elegant, etc”. These descriptors reminded me of the magical concept of a “glamour” which I’ve read about in various witchcraft, hoodoo and magick texts. While I’m sure many celebrities dabble in magic it seems more reasonable that for many celebrity this glamour is something imposed on them by inadvertent acts of magic done by ordinary non-magical-thinking folk.

Let us take a rather crude example such as the latest female celebrity deemed highly attractive by the media apparatus and thus deemed attractive by most of the population. [insert fashionable sex icon of choice here]; now imagine how many millions of pubescent boys are fantasising about said celebrity, many even orgasming thinking about them… is this not sex magick?!? On a very minor level aren’t these millions of boys enacting a very low-level inadvertent form of sex magick? Does this give the celebrity power/energy from the ritual act? Does this actually drain the energy of the celebrity somehow?

Celebrities are constantly talked about in the media, their images placed on billboards and bedroom walls, fantasised about, dreamt about, idolised… you get the idea. This must have some magical effect. Can the “celebrity” of certain celebrities be attributed to some sort of cumulative thought form created unconsciously & consciously by the wills of millions of regular people?

I know it’s not a particularly new idea to suggest that celebrities are ritualised and idolised in a similar way to ancient deities, saints and monarchs. However, I’m wanting to understand if these small acts of cumulative ritual have a materially palpable effect on the human who happens to be a celebrity.

Are celebrities aware of this? Do they draw on this for energy magically or have to protect themselves from it? Has anyone had any first-hand or second-hand experience with celebrity and magic?

I have no answers myself only observations and questions. This is my first post so I might have directed this thread in the wrong section , don’t hesitate to let me know if I have.

If you look at certain celebrities in interviews or public speeches they use certain hand signs, main one is all finger tips touching pointed forward/downward) this is a sign of authority. It makes the user more comfortable and seem more confident, they use many hand signals and “mudras” for lack of better description while talking so it’s very possible they know what they are doing or they just mimic those they look up to and it works.

It's their charisma and presence combined with the will and wishes of those who are fans of them.

For the second part it's like how a stray dog isn't cute, but if someone adopts it and pours their feelings into it, the dog becomes cute. Except it's hundreds of thousands or even millions of people propping up that person on a pedestal of idolatry.

Add on that they get used to the adoration and commotion of the public so it doesn't disturb their mental state when they encounter large groups of people, and you get a super-idolized "normal guy" who has the presence and charisma of someone who speaks to the masses.

Also a lot of celebrities get training for public speaking and how to control their body language and facial expressions, especially actors/actresses.

TL;DR It's their experiences and training along with the 'will of the masses', and as we all should know as practitioners, will and intent are a form of magic themselves.

There's also the effect that people will treat you as an important person on whom the entire success of a multi-billion corporation or a movie hinges. Or when an audience of thousands go ecstatic every time you clear your throat before launching into a song. It's both the very real VIP status (because it can be gauged in terms of money) and the adulation that produces the glamour.
Post automatically merged:

Are there supernatural reasons for all that glamour? Could be. Entiely mundane causes (wealth, public acclaim) also may produce supernatural effects, that's another possibility.

Biomagnetism.
celebrities come a dime a dozen but you can't tell me
Denzel Washington or Keanu Reeves are out there trying to pump their numbers.
the dudes literally shine.
put em in a room with normal citizens you will still notice them by default. Main character energy is what the kids call it.

a whole other other other thing is the hollywood sect and pdf thing, from Epstein to P Diddy. i could very easily be sold on the idea
that they do horrible things in exchange for status. But once again, you can literally tell - easy example - Tom Cruise. Bro is in a sect, and he still may be a closeted monster, but to the best of my insight dude is generating magick by his ambition in his career and still remains a chill dude anyone would vibe with.

so as much as i hate to do it, this one also falls into the most usual reply/answer in the occult- it's multi-layered/complicated/depends

It's in fact warned against in magick, should you wish servitors or some such communion that it should
1: not be in the likeness of a person who is alive 2: not be a dead relative or familly member

yeah i get what you mean but i don't think it works as simple as that. Though it's plausible the formula needs more work. Attention at one person is not enough, in order to truly push it into pharaonic ruler of the masses it needs to coincide with intent and purpose.
we know our king is the son of the gods and the morning star and blah blah blah. the other guy just sings really well. you know?
there are exceptions, for sure. But im more of the opinion they would do it the same politicians do, and try to use magick
to up their numbers and stay relevant instead of a well thought out operation like that- which is reserved for the scum in Hollywood.

they use certain hand signs
that's just corporate and public relations training, the guys over at mcdonalds do it too.
which isn't to say celebrities dont push out occult agendas under the radar, just the gestures and etc is more alligned to charisma

Interesting thread, and welcome to the forum, Frater Apluleius.

Many of the artists/celebrities I am fond of (Kate Bush, Tori Amos, Caroline Polachek, Mitski, Aldous Harding, ...) have certainly dipped their fingers in the pond of magic. Their are plenty of motives and hints in their work. In the case of Aldous Harding, her glamour stems from

. This is a performative skill that Kate Bush has refined through her dancing mentor Lindsey Kemp (who knew about the Gurdjieff movements). David Bowie learned his tricks from the Japanese kabuki theatre. Most actors and performers will have had their own mentors and coaches early along the road.

That glamor is mostly a performative and acquired skill, is even more clear with royalties and aristocracy, who from a young age are trained to move and talk in a certain way. In renaissance Italy this was called "sprezzatura". The nonchalant, effortless grace, as described by Castiglione in "The Book of the Courtier". Interestingly, I came across this same sense of "grace-as-glamour" in Sahagún's Florentine Codex: among the noble caste of the Aztecs, moving without effort, "not too fast, not too slow", was greatly praised.

The idea that celebrities get their glamor charched through cumulated thought waves, like Gods, is original, but I have found little traces or proof of it in my experiences and reading.

Yeah I knew it was a charisma thing, some are to calm nerves, be more at ease, show authority and attentiveness.
I added the “mudra” part in quotes for that reason, saying for lack of a better term.
I had no clue they taught that stuff at McDonald’s and stuff though, I’ve worked many, many different jobs and not once have they ever had a meeting (in detail) discussing body language especially hand placements. That’s interesting for sure.

A lot of it is that some people are just born with other worldly amounts of Talent coupled with other worldly amounts of Charisma.

That is just their baseline starting point and at some point their Drive to succeed crosses paths with ‘Luck’ in meeting someone or someone(s) that give them the break they need to become famous.

I don’t really see anything Magickal in any of that except for maybe that person’s internal drive and positivity that later manifests as their break through.

But after they become famous I can see that there may be some incidental Magick at play from the idolatry of a fan base both positive and negative.

That could explain some of why it seems like when a famous person hits the peak of their career with hit after hit with all this forward momentum pushing them toward massive amounts of success.

Conversely they can be prone to one really bad mid step that creates backlash among their fan base and their their career just spirals downward in such negative way.

But in general that ‘Glow’ or ‘Presence’ they have imo is just their natural Charisma.

Some people are just really blessed to be born with it.
