It's possible and wouldn't be that surprising if it were so for some people. Some people might simply require complete silence (more and more hard to have in this world) and that is their nature.

For others like me, the sound on the background serves as BG noise... and for me it also serves as time check, telling me that the time for meditation is not yet over.
