Is Lucifer Satan or Not?

if your perception of a spirit blows in the wind, how can you distinguish that from your own imagination? again, radical self honesty, its non-negotiable on this path.

We have hit around this point in various threads. I was hoping someone had a definitive answer. To limit the discussion, let's just talk magickally, not historically. A lot of people, among them your humble narrator, tend to lump Lucifer and Satan together. But trying to characterize the entity I say Lucifer wears an "Apollonian" aspect; Satan a "Dionysian" one. These seem to represent fairly distinct constellations of forces.

So, what the Greeks kept asunder, why do we post-Christians meld together? That question certainly hints that the identification of the two represents an inherited habit. Is there any reason to identify them? I can think of cases where two gods certainly seem to be aspects of one being (e.g., Freya/Frigga.) Here, even while I tend to refer to Lucifer-Satan, I cannot find a compelling logical reason to do so. Aesthetically, maybe. The avatar Parallax uses in this forum of the Breker sculpture combines Numinal and Sinister aspects into a unity. So with Lucifer & Satan?

Satan translates to "adversary". Lucifer, in my experience is the adversary to all things unjust, or things that take away from others free will. So yes, in a sense, Lucifer IS Satan.

Lucifer to me has an energy which I would describe as a "high ranking angel with earthy vibes and a tone of solemness" but when working with him, he did show me how he could change his energy to be more strict and stern depending on what the person he was working with needed. He did work with me primarily on self-love and placing yourself first, even above him. He didn't like formal titles and preferred to work with people as equals, like when people call Lucifer "Lord Lucifer" it's not the same Lucifer I worked with.

Satan had a real heavy and earthy energy, like very very heavy which felt a little scary, but he was actually very paternal towards me, like a father figure. I haven't worked much with Satan, definitely not as much as Lucifer, who I used to work with quite a bit. I can probably count the number of times on a single hand.

Two different energies, but I am "Feeling/energy/intuition" type of channeler, so take it as you will.

lucifer is 100% not an angel. Divine light and light are actually different and you arent able to perceive the difference. Lucifer to me is well known to use light to pretend to be an angel and to try and interject himself into teachings of angel magick putting himself at the center of it.

But to answer the main question is no, satan and lucifer are different beings. Lucifer is the main being that went awry a couple species ago. This isnt really human knowledge as christianity would have you believe that lucifer rebelled against god and has his own opinions on how to conduct things. This is impossible as rebelling against god in the first place is impossible as god is beyond creation and so is irrelevant. At the same time angels have free will and free reign to their responsibilities, this does include whether they decide to be harsh on humans or helpful and guiding. What lucifer did was way before humans, messing with a species in a bad way just like humans, usually spiritual enslavement, an attempt to gather the souls of beings and mess with their development. It is this involvement that caused them to be devolved into fallen angels.

While there are a few subset of species, and branching off of people, some sticking with lucifer, some going off their own way doing and being their own thing and want nothing to do with anything. Satan is his own entity. Lucifer is at the center of his effort, not the center of angel magick.

This isnt really human knowledge as you'd need access to an angel's mind to even find this out.

You have been duped by lucifer, but thats common. Even when fighting him i had to be sure by doing it a few times in different ways. He avoids battle and would prefer to trick instead. The success lucifer has right now is enormous not just in messing with occult teachings on angels by having fallen angels seen as actual angels of different opinion and religion which uses his effort of spiritual enslavement (religion says you are a slave of god for example, that you belong to god, that god owns everything), this is a blatant example. This is how many souls he has successfully gathered by having humans choose to give themselves over rather than him forcing it or making humans do it.
