I'm very interested in psalm magick because, from what I've seen, it's both incredibly simple and incredibly powerful. The problem I have with it is that it seems WAY TOO EXTREME—for example, if you want to curse someone, psalm magick destroys their life and kills their family, or at least that's what it seems to do based on what's written in the psalms. I want to use it, but I don’t always want to go to such extremes. Anyway, I seem to recall there was a technique where you combined fragments from various psalms to create your own spell, but I don’t remember what it’s called or if it was exactly as I’m describing it. Any thoughts on all this?

I haven't tried combining fragments of psalms before, but the more you repeat the psalm the stronger it gets. You could work with a benefic psalms for a week and see how that feels to get an idea of the current, just be aware each psalm will be different. I don't recommend cursing in general, but if you are in your "microdosing evil phase" you might want to look into S Connolly's work on Curses, Hexs and Crossing.

For me, it never worked. Many times, it had the opposite effect. I’ve even combined the sacred names from Jacobus Swart’s books, but without any results. For me, the Psalms simply don’t work.

simple and incredibly powerful
You could say simple and powerful but it works better if you work a lot with the PS. Not just recite a few of them. It is something like what @BBMage said, the more you repeat the stronger it gets. I did this with the whole book all the time and the effects became extremely strong.
If you want them to work really well you should read a lot daily for years. Then they will be buzzing through your mind and give amazing effects. (y)

You have to do a lot with them to get the best effects. A lot of experimentation with different versions. The formulas and trial & error, to establish stronger connection and to become more open yourself.

curse someone, psalm magick
It can do it but it is about the charge, stacking a lot of energy from it and directing your will, then it can. Also the effect that you resonate on the same frequency and the "servants" notice you being mad, automatically taking action, something like that.

I microdose eviI everyday by glaring and accidentally and maybe sometimes purposefully giving others the eviI eye. EviI Eye is smaII pretty basic and just putting all your energy to the envy, the malcontent, the pure discontent with the worId to that one person and think of aII that energy to one Iook or glare of that person.

I hate everyone on the road so I think I give my accidentally eviI eyes to those on the road. I get the microdosing part and not wanting to over due it.

Curses where I give an example of what happened to an ex-friend of mine that thinking about stiII gives me joy today is when they had something happen to their yard that made it smeII awfuI and it was reaIIy funny and feIt Iike karma for aII the terribIe stuff they put me through.

But if something serious happened to them that wasn't Iike that I wouId not find the same amusement. So sometimes a microdose, a sprinkIe of wanting something just maybe gets in the way of someone's day makes sense for probably a majority of the time.

I am kind of prickly cactus Iike person though so maybe its just me.

Combining various bits of prayers and bible verses including parts is common. You can verbally state, as part of your prayer, what you really intend before reciting the psalm.
If you don't want to read out imprecatory psalms then simply don't.
Psalms are useful but I didn't find them too powerful like you describe it.
They are also not dangerous, don't listen to fearmongering. If you are cursing with psalms then at the end read psalm 51 for forgiveness and miasma cleansing and that's that. Maybe add one of the psalms for blessing yourself.

kinda sound like the first few pages of the abramelin. leo zagami has a video where he says if you read the quran in repeatition youll unlock magickal properties and than they hold occult power when studied.......this was a video from 2009..... years ago same time E.A Koetting talked about the nine demonic gatekeepers....

This might come off as argumentative, but I cannot agree that cursing anyone is ever completely safe, and especially with Psalms. Ironically, especially 51 can be easily misused in this context. The main axis the power of Psalms revolves around is honesty, so saying "Sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, a broken, contrite heart you never scorn." as a part of a curse ritual is in fact quite a potent way to curse yourself.

There are Psalms for cursing in the Septuagint. I don't recommend using the Psalms for cursing though as normally, the cursing Psalms are meant to curse and banish not humans, but rather Demons and other dark entities that may be affecting your life.

Moreover, some cursing Psalms specifically state either evoking disease upon someone, putting Satan onto the right of someone, essentially allowing Evil himself to rule over the said someone and I don't think I need to stress out why someone should always avoid doing such thing. It can instantly backfire and playing with Evil himself, no matter the Divine authority that keeps him in check, still, is a risky and honestly not-worth-doing-at-all activity.

Envy not acknowledged stiII grows in my opinion just unmanaged. I rather admit to the fauIt of being envious and process the feeling than completeIy shut it out.

But its up to ther person what to do and eviI eye stiII might not be the best thing to do. Its just what the person on here asked for a less major curse. I don't even usuaIIy do that one purposefuIIy most of the time and there's items to protect against it so think it might be what the person wants.

If they are going to curse someone they are going to do that. Can't controI that I just suggested what they want which is not so powerfuI one of it and that a Iot of peopIe might even do unintentionaIIy.

Oh, I get what you mean. Well, there is a difference between envy the feeling and envy the act of will ("sin", as Christians call it). The difficult art lies in acknowledging the emotion and having enough clarity to decide against committing to it.

Cursing is never safe, but not for the reason you say. My response was in the context of Psalms and if they're exceptional to other magick. My point is that if you see Psalms as a "system" it already has mitigating factors inbuilt in obvious way.
I disagree that "main axis the power of the Psalms revolves around is honesty", it either revolves around God (however you understand that word, and if you take Abrahamic claims at face value) or it is egregore that got powered by millennia of worship and blood spilled in its name. The psalm is designed to was away miasma and that's what it does, the apex point is the phrase 51:7 "Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow." which shows up independently in Liturgy for a reason. At any rate, all usage of Psalms is metaphorical, since they are thorn out of their original context and a line of poetic hyperbole is not going to curse you.

Finally, and most importantly, my post is based primarily on praxis- tons of people work imprecatory psalms and then do confession, ask for forgiveness and/or do cleansing in a way that makes sense for them and are fine. Psalm 51 is often used in such contexts and it works excellently. This includes conventionally Christian people who only do prayers, folk magickians and even grimoires magickians.

Which psalms used in what ways are too powerful?

Which being evidently cares about spiritual honesty, at multiple points making it clear that he considers contrition without true will of repentance a great offence. The Psalms were in large part inspired by David's journey of moral transformation, a profound change of will. To effectively use a penitential Psalm as a purification ritual requires to see what you want to purify yourself from like David has seen his own misdeeds. That also naturally implies the choice to undo the curse, which kind of defeats the purpose of the whole process.

Praxis is overrated in this case. People not only don't know what's good for them but also aren't very good in connecting causes and effects in those matters, which effect is actually strenghtened by doing self-detrimental work - consciously or not.

I'm sorry if this comes off as judgmental. I'm trying my best to speak with courtesy from my best knowledge and experience, which in this case is quite extensive.
