I have pondered many times this question, is religion a white magic?
My personal opinion is that religion is white magic.
What I mean by this is that religions are used by various religion leaders to do presumably good things or to encourage doing good in order to attract,
while in fact religions have a hidden purpose known only to leaders (esoteric teaching), the public is however present with exoteric teachings.
It's difficult to say and perhaps subjective what the esoteric teaching could be, but ultimately since purpose of a religion is to encourage communion and doing good it logically follows that religion is white magic in a sense that magic is about supernatural powers to affect the world around us, which the religion indeed does since ever.
There is an issue with existence of God however, and this is the only reason why every religion may be esoteric in nature with exoteric teachings, ex. to prevent doubt about existence of a God.
Thus it logically follows that esoteric knowledge is about God's existence, therefore it's possible for the esoteric teaching to be that there is no God in fact but is present as existent in exoteric teachings.
I thus think religion is called "religion" only because it's organized or institutional, but otherwise it's nothing but white magic with esoteric teaching.
Do you agree religion is white magic and what could esoteric teaching be?
If you don't agree, how would you rule out esoteric teaching?
Btw. keep in mind one good example that Jesus spoke in parables, which is a proof of existence of esoteric and exoteric teaching.
