Is Stardew Valley's wizard performing actual magic?

A magic circle, 8 red spheres, 4 purple spheres. What kind of magic is he performing here? The shapes and colors may not be merely coincidental, but an actual evocation, I suppose (?) If so, what is he probably doing?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this doesn't correspond to any traditional European-derived magic. This does come close to some Vajrayana mandalas that I'm familiar with (if the spheres can be taken to represent different spirit figures), but even in those cases, the outer blue spheres should be at the cardinal directions, not in the corners.

I suspect he employed some magical works to conceive this game, and the wizard might be a representation of that. The geometrical symbols inside the circle really give off some type of evocation. The cardinal directions you point out make sense, as they are often required in evocations also..

I'm going to paraphrase the creators of the Illuminati card game when they were confronted on how they predicted so many events with their conspiracy theory cards. Their answer was "well, we got it from reading what you guys were writing!". I'd guess that ConcernedApe did a little bit of research on what magic circles look like in real life before he made his wizard character's bedroom. I don't have any evidence that he's done any magiky stuff, but given his success it wouldn't surprise me if he at least practices some vanilla mindfullness or Law of Attraction type thing. Tons of people have success with very basic magical practices (Scott Adams for example just writes his "affirmation" ten times a day until it happens, he doesn't even use the word magick but it still applies in my view), I wouldn't assume someone is practicing high magick unless they say so though.
