Buddhism, generally speaking across the board, is based on its Four Noble Truths. The third Truth is a direct rejection of certain parts of human nature.
Gnosis is based on the belief that demiurge-creator is evil.
I don't really care how certain groups choose to apply those beliefs, it's really a matter of theory in this case.

Why would there be anything more mystical than a human? Why would we think that waters of Sheol would strip away one's self? Is what makes you human but a false perception to you?

I didn't say and won't say that humans or being human is not mystical. It is really mystical indeed since we embody a part of the Microcosm (olam katan as per the Kabbalah). In fact, I admit that I discovered a lot of balance in enjoying life.

Although the main cores of both Gnosticism and Buddhism alike reject material aspects, that doesn't mean that I, you or any other one who believes in spirituality cannot apply the principles of fringe groups or take what is needed. Same applies with Christianity; I seek its spiritual aspects and avoid all the political bullshit that surrounds it in the current year and moment.

Again, being human is mystical, worthy and should always be appreciated. What I was referring was strictly the transcendental aspect that, if one wishes to do the mystical work, to know what the steps are and the effects that will arise from taking such work of ascension and semi-asceticism seriously.
