Lime In the Coconut

Harry Nilsson sang about how you put the lime in the coconut an' drink it all up. So I tried it: 1/4 lime juice; 3/4 cocunut. Tastes like perfumed pee from some tree-swingin' simmian. Probably needs to be reinforced with a liberal shot glass of Bacardi. Preferably Bacardi 151.

Yeah. It was a bit acidy. Acid in a non-hallucinogenic way.

My guess is it's meant to be a pina colada with lime instead of pineapple. But lime juice is much less sweet than pineapple, so I'd probably use 50/50 fresh lime and Rose's Lime Juice (the trad lime syrup, used in gimlets)

Alternatively, just Malibu (coconut rum) with some fresh lime. Or like, half-Malibu, half white rum, cause Malibu has the opposite sweetness problem.

Your post did get me to thinking if rum, coconut milk and pineapple juice would be an ok drink. Maybe a bit heavy. It might be ok, if one added, say, 50% club soda. That and banned sticking them cutesy umbrellas in the glass.
