What do you think of living magical traditions (ex. Shamanism) versus revived magical traditions (ex. Egyptian)? Does the long unbroken history of a system make it more potent than a system that had to be revived?

I dont think any system has survived being 'unbroken' in the sense of the definition of the term. Even Shamanism has shifted with time and the very people that practiced it over the millennia.

To me, complexity, age, popularity dont give or take away potency of a tradition or current. To me, the power is in the practitioner, not the system. If it were in the system, everyone would be doing it and there would be no mystery any longer.

Just my take.
