Hello,

I've long been interested in the occult, but I've only recently started applying it to my life. I'm largely seeking out European, Slavic, Scandinavian and North American information that isn't related to abrahamic religions.

I'm in my early 40s Canadian, living in the Netherlands, childfree, an artist (traditional and digital), a programmer, gamer, giant nerd, and a

(Skeptical, Agnostic, Atheist, and generally Science-Seeking).

As part of my nerdiness, I've been making a witchy occult font, because the lack of cohesively designed occult fonts makes me sad. Through this project I'm learning a lot about history, various religions, pantheons, and paths. If people want information about the font or have any suggestions about glyphs, belief systems, sigils or other symbols to add to it let me know and I'll post a link to what I have so far. Whenever I get this behemoth of a project finished, I'll be releasing the full thing completely for free.

It's lovely to meet you all, and I hope to have fun here!

Hello, and welcome to the forum. I'm definitely interested in the font and curious how you're designing it. Sounds like a great post for the technology section!

The way I'm designing it can best be described as the hard way, LOL.

The base lettering is Quicksand, an open-source font, because I cannot be arsed to muck about with leading and kerning and ligatures and digraphs and all that. Beyond that I'm using a consistent line weight and similar shapes and overall feeling to make the rest of the characters, of which there are about 200 finished and another 300+ waiting in the wings.

Because I am poor and stubborn, I'm designing everything in Photoshop with the pen, exporting the lines in SVG format to Inkscape, expanding and refining them there, and then using fontforge to put it all together.
