When I was 28 I was a homeless drug addict who had nothing and no one, and couldn't manage myself or mental health. When I was 29 I met who I believe to be an amazing, powerful chaos magician.

I'm now 34, and in those 5 years I started and sold my company, and now live in a rural smallholding, running a small chicken farm with my wife and daughter. I'm never gonna have to work again, free on my land to live my life.

I used chaos magick to change my mindset, manifest opportunities and manage my will. It's not easy, but it does work.

I, don't know anything about this. I don't want to do magic for money myself, nor do I know really anything about magic yet.
However, I can try to make a guess.

The only thing that makes money what it is is, intent, right ? Trust.
If peoples do not trust the currency, then it's back to simple exchange of goods.
They have faith in the worth of money.
And, I am asking myself that, maybe, it makes money particularly "heavy" to manipulate as a subject.

So maybe asking for money directly, by winning the lottery, or having your boss increase your salary, is too much ?

Money only works because everyone believes it to be real. So the 'heaviness' may well be in one's own belief system about money. This belief system (e.g."I'm not good with money") may also be so deeply ingrained that it's major work to get to the point where your money magic even has a chance of working...

But money is only a mean to an end. You do not want money, you want the freedom of action that accompanies it. Or a particular thing, be it comfort or necessity, that can be bought by it. Desiring money is like desiring commercial value, it has no purpose other than fulfilling desires. So why bother with it when it's possible to cut down the middleman and seek... That which is the true object of desire ?

It's a lot of desires :/
Maybe unclear, or a bit of a sidestep from what you said though.
But Caroll said always to take the opposite side of a debate, so... :>

Anyway, I get what you meant about self-restricting belief. And it's a good point.

I totally agree - I wasn't arguing for the best solution though - I was just talking about the subject at hand :D

I'm not much into trying to connect material wealth to the esoteric or occult side of my being. As far as I know, from my own interactions with it, that side of me could care less about money or whether or not I'm healthy, wealthy or wise.
If you follow the ideas like Og Mandino wrote about, you start by focusing on the little things you need as visual or actual objects, and stop worrying about how you get them. You build up, and don't start with massive wealth. This likely falls under the category of manifesting your desires, which I also don't do, and don't worry about. Feeding the ego and the material is exactly the opposite of what works for me personally.
People are already born greedy and corrupt, for the most part.
If you have things, like money, and you aren't tough, somebody will just come along and take it all away from you. The less you have, the less interested the greedy cesspool dwellers are towards you.
So, what is it that you desire to get with the money? Not the money, but a clear vision of what you wish for.
Spend your life on that, chasing after that, and in the end that is all you achieve.
It won't make you happy, but a decent amount of money can make life easier in some ways.
An obvious dual-edged situation.
For those of us with destiny abusing us, there will be no wealth.
Blame the 3 fates for that.
