Magical identity and gender

It is generally recommended across various systems to use a magical personality in one's practice. In the tradition of the Aurum Solis, this personality should counterbalance one's strengths and weaknesses, based on one's natal chart, so that it can be reintegrated after being sufficiently developed. In the Fraternitas Saturni, the neophyte is also expected to develop himself contrary to his proclivities.

If we want to thus create a personality that is to balance ourselves, then should we actually not start from the one thing that rules our personality and proclivities most of all? I'm talking about one's gender here. Should the magical personality in fact not be of an opposite gender to one's current identification? In this manner, one would reach towards the hermaphroditic form mentioned in alchemical texts, completely balancing out and supplementing the psyche.

Additionally, it would aid in creating a radical otherness, if the magical personality is not only consecrated for ritual work but also completely different on a very basic level. Obviously this would be somewhat different for non-binary and trans people.

What are your thoughts on this?

There is nothing in the science of magic that speaks of the hermaphroditic transformation of humans, and it has no value whatsoever; rather, the reference is to the sun and the moon as representations of the masculine and feminine. It seems that when we failed to understand how true magic works, we veered off into ritual magic in degenerate forms. That is my opinion.

Could you expand on what you would mean by turning into the demon Baal? Isn't it Baphomet who embodies both male and female aspects?

As for the gender part, why are male/female not considered thus as aspects of the same psyche? Franz Bardon recommends in his IIH that one write down what aspects of his character correspond to which element and then to balance those out. Wouldn't doing so with masculine/feminine/solar/lunar aspects be more fundamental in this case?

You seem to have some understanding of true magic. Could you tell me what magic you consider true and false?
