Magical Names

[Morell]

I've created name Morell in my phase of working with the Valar from Middle Earth. (no idea back then that it is a name actually used in Germany, lol.) I find it funny how people often misspell it. Full is Morell Sunweaver, Morell made by me, Sunweaver was gifted from spirit that whispered it to my ear. I use it as my artistic name, but I developed it for occult use and use it along with other one I don't share with people.

I think that power of names is very individual, though I don't deny that names used by many people have some sort of egregore coming with them.

I'm enjoying reading how everyone has come up with their magical names. In magic I initiated myself as Mina Andreas ten years ago. Both names have several meanings between the two of them and it also contains an anagram of my real name.

I created my private magical name when I was 16, and still use it to this day. Funny enough, I just picked two words/concepts that resonated with me and put them together. Later research led me to discovering there were actually astrological ties with both for me, as well as ancestral. It certainly was confirmation to me at that point that it was truly my name!

I have online personas for various aspects of my life; I'm a private person, actually, but my career (until my health limited my ability to work in it) is one that's a bit more public so I have several online personas to create distance between them and my previous work. At some point during all of that, I settled on Drakaina as a name for online use in magical settings, and it's stuck as a sort of public name (in the local community, I don't use a magical name).
