Not that I like to show off (lies!) but my meditations appear to be working, averaging a lot longer than it seems to be. Time is 'squishy'.
Can I get a recommendation for a really nice meditation timer?
Preferably one with a nice soft chime and does not have to be shipped halfway around the world (Europe) ?

I meditate and go into a trance about every day for an hour. You don't really need a timer. You set the intention to be in a meditative state for an hour. It's like waking up at a certain time every morning without an alarm clock. Your 'subconscious mind' just knows the time to wake you up. With practice, you will just slowly come out of meditation at the time you have intended.

This is true, I have had it happen, but I could benefit from help sometimes. It's probably just neurotic. I was never good with 'bed' and 'time' It is indicative of other problems. I kind of need to 'know' there is a backup if I am feeling off.
It would help if I could see the sun.
Winter, eh?

I use clock app in my phone and sound of sonar for timer running out.
Also to measure time of meditating or concentrating I use a song that I'm so used to that I can half-ignore it. Counting how many times it played doesn't disturb me much.
For longer time I would use music mix, like 2 hours long one and can find out how much time was spend by what is actually playing.

I think as @Morell said, a good idea is to use some app or use the phone clock. Set it to ring, pick a good chime.

I'm not really using any timers at all but I'm sure there are many apps for this.
My methods are a bit different. When I'm working with the mantras I use beads and a secondary object to count the rounds, such as a deck of playing cards.
A pile or hold 30-50 cards, drop/flip one after a round. This way I can easily focus on the mantra and not the numbers. I do this method when I'm aiming for a number based goal.

Also the music mix, meditation music, something that goes on for 60-120 minutes.
