Hello, I just discovered this forum exists! My name is Jess and I run the subreddit r/occultlibrary. I am having a problem. I was once part of a discord server I won't mention the name but it was full of super techno chaos witches and I'm pretty sure they are up in my shit. I have reason to believe that they are in my pc because related stuff has been open on my pc when i turn on my laptop in the morning after closing everything and shutting down the night before. I think they are white hat or neutral not trying to do any harm but I'm wigging out and its fucking up my vibe. I left the server after revealing I'm the owner of r/occultlibrary and shits gone weird since. I'm not super computer literate and am not really close with anyone in the occult community so Idk what to do. any thoughts would be appreciated. I have screenshots I can share if requested.

It is possible you might have some problem. I know that a few friends of mine got their discord accounts hijacked because they had joined some servers. Your case though there's perhaps something on your PC that is not so nice. It might be a good idea to scan through everything with a good AV and perhaps also malwarebytes and such tools. The question is, where did it come from? Downloaded something, installed a weird program from a strange source?

Then again, scanning, it might not reveal everything. Another option could be just to format-c the whole thing which probably gets rid of whatever.

Nowadays by downloading something you could end up getting a weird attachment. Just recently I read about cheap gaming mice that come with malware, unbelievable :ROFLMAO:

That's a cool subreddit though, a decent number of members (y)

Ok I will get malwarebytes and do a scan. I am a part of the drugscord community on discord so I have my webcam on a lot so yeah they may be spying. My phone is apple so I believe it is safe on there. I'll stop using my webcam on the laptop for now and cover it. Thanks for the reply.

I don't buy that any phone is safer than PC.
Though I did notice that Discord APP seems to be favourite target for hackers. Using Discord in web-browser with antivirus integration, Malware-bite addon and other stuff turned to save my account from hijacking at least once. One has to be damn careful with clicking any links on Discord...

Discord is alright when you use it for text & voice chatting. Back in the day I remember Skype and Xfire with far worse stuff. It was very easy to run an external tool while chatting to get the IP address of somebody. Then during the matches in some games they ddosed you to gain unfair advantage. Maybe just a bit but enough to give you a horrible lag. Xfire closed 10 years ago. it was a great messenger for gamers but with so many problems. This was ridiculous, happened in games so much. Some friends of mine had their matches ruined because of this.

It sounds like the issue here came from not joining a server but clicking on something bad. @jessicaisparanoid is a mod and owner of a subreddit so I would not be surprised that somebody with a twisted mind would want to do weird stuff.

yes I’ve seen the meme “don’t click links” before 😂 I’ll make sure they put reddit mod on my tombstone when I die 😂 these people were into some of the wackiest magic I’ve seen it was like they were talking completely in code sometimes- I found it fascinating but exclusionary. I’ve got some golden screenshots to send you if you wouldn’t mind me messaging you idk if that is allowed on this forum. I did a malwarebytes scan and it found 21 thingys which I quarantined.

Damn really I was always told apple phones are really secure. Ok well luckily I don’t have much to hide really. That’s a great suggestion to use in browser discord with antivirus stuff I will look into it. Thankyou

Their OS might be peak, but from my comparing of my Motorola and IPhone some student showed me my phone was way better HW while 75% cheaper which rolled my eyes, honestly. (iPhone only defeated my phone with camera)

Though most safety importance nowadays is about how you use internet. For example Torrents are extremely easy way to virus infect your device.

I agree. Despite some instability during upgrades Discord offers fine experience. Though I would never integrate any chat program with other application... with few exceptions.
