Hi guest! As you can see, the new Wizard Forums has been revived, and we are glad to have you visiting our site! However, it would be really helpful, both to you and us, if you registered on our website! Registering allows you to see all posts, and make posts yourself, which would be great if you could share your knowledge and opinions with us! You could also make posts to ask questions!
I understand the LBRP, east, north west south but When to Invoke spirit? And would you invoke or banish Spirit? Would you invoke and banish east, north west, south?
Is spirit you are calling on an angel or demon?
The Spirit in the LBRP system is somehow immanent and is not operable like the other elements. In general, the Spirit in the Pentagram Ritual, I mean what is called the Greater Pentagram Ritual, has its passive and active form, which is drawn depending on whether you are invoking or banishing the 'active' or 'passive' element. The passive elements are Earth and Water, while the active ones are Fire and Air. So, in the LBRP you do not invoke or banish the Spirit, only the elements.
The names invoked are Archangels.
This is commonly performed to start, or end, the day. And is also used before or after more advanced magical work.
In my world, this is only 'practiced' while awake, and actually performed while lucid or out of body, where you are then also surrounded by a flaming green circle as you turn, the cardinal directions are flaming in blue as you draw the pentagram with an athame or wand. At that point, these points are then portals you can draw things out of, or that you can enter into.
Other methods and practices exist, of course.
Directions of rotation are often creating or removing/closing, and directions of the start and end of symbols can also be meaningful.
The pentagram is also not the only thing you can use, and there are some basic geometry figures and colors used for the elements.
A good place to start would be Ophiels series in The Art and Practice of... it is much easier than trying to decipher the Golden Dawn or other more complicated versions.

In LBRP you are the "5th element"-the operator of the ritual. And depends, but I would stick to earth pentagrams if you're just starting out. Not sure exactly what you're asking about the directions, but in the LBRP you generally move with the direction of the sun: East to South to West to North, doing the required ritual actions accordingly. What are you using as areference for the ritual

You are asking how to do the ritual ? Plenty of sources on line about that , so I fill try to offer supplementary stuff and some ' finger pointing'.
Some of those links above are about 'Greater' ... the thread title is about 'Lesser' . Some ideas above in posts seem to relate to lesser are actually from the Greater version or the Hexagram rituals . Read your last link to learn more ;
I dont think it is necessary at this stage to get into Golden Dawn stuff (one of your links ) and look at complex side issues ; like how certain elements are attributed to astrological features and other theoretical matters Accept attributions as given or decide your own ( but make them 'magically valid to yourself ) *
I find it helpful to break a ritual down into parts
LBRP
**
1. The Qabbalistic Cross . ( Even practicing this alone is highly recommended as a start .)
2. Tracing the Pentagrams ( and 'casting' a circle ) .
3. Invocation of Archangels .
4. Closing with the Qabalisitc Cross .
1. This alone can be a long and worthwhile practice and be extended into things like Israel Regardie's 'Rose Cross Ritual '.
2. Here the question of elemental attribution to direction comes into it . As I said above or for example I use
* E - W , N-F , W-E, S-A . Due to my location ; East - to the east and close by is the largest ocean on the planet . The north is the path of the Sun . To the west is a vast ancient Continental land mass. That leaves the south , often a source of southerly winds , and the output of energy from the South Magnetic Pole ( the north pole has an input ) .
3. Also work on visualization of them being there in the quarter , its not just a verbal recitation .
* * . keep a magical diary / record . With this there should be preliminary steps .
You can write under those four headings , enter what you have decided to do and describe it . Later add any comments or results, observations , Some may arise later as well . But there would , or should be sections before that first 1 .
Eg . a heading of 'Purpose' or 'Aim' might be immensely helpful . Equipment ... Place ,, etc can be significant . Then 'Method' . Then 1 -4 as 'Practice' , than a section for 'result' . You can even note the weather or astrology ; eg. You might note differences in effect due to those things .
The Southern Hemisphere . There IS one , its not just a rumor .... There are people living 'down' here .
