Is anyone familiar with Neuro-Linguistic Programming, or use of daily non religion oriented affirmations?
I am looking for sources for purposes of health and wealth, and assurance of both.
Thanks in advance.

I have found positive thinking or salesmanship quotes to be fair and non religious in nature.

I'm interested in this as well, but have not really practised it yet.
I know in Hands on Chaos Magic- Andrieh Vitimus, (WF library has it), Chapter 6 is about using NLP and cognitive science in magic, chapter 8 is about conditioning for succes and nlp is listed about 20 times in the book's index. This book has a lot of short excersises so there's probably something in there to work with.. but I mostly focused on the breath and energy excersises back when I read it.

Still on my to read list: NLP Magick-Joost van der Leij. He combines nlp with an atheist approach to spirituality and Golden Dawn style ritual magic,
skimming through it.. I see the tree of life, the elements (earth chapter: money and health), a modified middle pilar ritual etc.
Seems to go much more in depth, but I'm not sure if this one has been translated or is only available in dutch.

I have noticed in casual reading about NLP, that they talk about it being "very scientific" but their magazines are as full of "communicating with angels" and stuff as any occult publication.

I heard it described as "magic for salesmen" and that is borne out by my reading so far on the subject.

NLP is a model of communication and therapy. The whole visual - auditory - kinesthetic learning style thing in education came from it.

The very first NLP book is titled "The structure of magic", which was published before they coined the name NLP, it's presents a core NLP tool called The Meta Model, which is a group of ~12 linguistic patterns that can contribute to people feeling stuck, and useful ways to respond to move past the limitation. For instance, client says "I can't do that" the meta model classic response is "What stops you?".

This came out in 1975 when the stanard therapy response was, "how do you feel about that?" Hence the meta model gave therapists that emb raced it what seemed like a magical ability to have clients rapidly move past internal barriers that most others would get stuck in. Thus seeming magical to the untrained observer comparing to other therapists.

Hence with name of the book began a confusion around whether NLP belonged on occult bookshelves.

The formal definition of NLP is the study of the structure of subjective experience.

So, I find NLP to be a fantastic set of tools that can support magick.

As far as science, the fou ders in their early 20's were goi ng round to psychology conferences belittling psychologists and therapists that weren't using NLP, pissing many of them off, and NLP has not really been given a fair shake academically as a result. There are some very impressive studies around of the results. For instance, there is an allergy cure technique that some allergy specialists in Colorado evaluated and found single session success at immediat allergy remission in 80% of clients when a specific allergen could be identified. Uses a very clever ways of applying Pavlovian conditioning.

I could go on for soon long, but I have other pressing matters at the moment.

Mmm, i remember nlp being used by bandler and grinder to stay out of prison. And that THAT'S the reason it was first looked down upon. They where accused of murder, couldnt get prosecuted and then started a business model with it. Which later got used to train managers in hitting down instead of hitting up.

To be accurate it was only Bandler. Grinder had nothing to do with any of that. I know Bandlers attorney told him not to use NLP when he testified, but have no idea if he did.

The other part of your post didn't seem like anything I recognize, except that yes many managers have been trained in NLP.

There are others such as Dilts, Grinder, Tad James, Steve & Connirae Andreas, David Gordon among others that folks generally agree have a very high level of integrity.
Totally understand not wanting anything to do with Bandler, but if you otherwise are interested in the field don't miss the benefits because of him.. Fcus on work by some of the other folks - not in the Bandler camp.

The nlpuniversitypress.com link is a great, free, comprehensive resource that Robert Dilts and Judith Delozier created.

Hope you and your health are doing well, seriously. You're one of the good ones...

I hadn't notice this post before and it's coming up on its first year anniversary.

You probably have more knowledge about NLP since a year ago. You'll probably notice those into this modality for therapy also practice (a high probability of it, it seems) tapping or Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT). I've had some exposure to it but I've hadn't had a need to use it on myself but those i respect swear by its benefits.

Havening therapy is another interesting method that calms the mind and body. I have used this and it does work, at least for me. YouTube has some demos of it if ur interested.

This next is interesting. Switchwords. Introduced in 1963 by an eccentric public relations guy James T. Mangan in his book, "The Secret of Perfect Living". I found switchwords researching an aspect of Chomsky's theory of deep structures.

James supposedly studied over years and found certain words repeated as a mantra caused change. I won't go into the theory of how and why of it but i found certain words worked for me spiritually. If you're interested, there's plenty of free resources online about this (word lists, usage suggests, etc.)

Happy to field questions about the above.
