I just had a talk with my aunt. So I had like one day while my aunts husband was visiting me in the mountains where I was kinda mopey. I legit stayed in bed most the day I was not feeling great emotionally. He told my aunt. And now my aunt has made it her mission to help me take of my mental health. I wasn't planning on moping all the time or anything but it's reassuring to me her doing this. She has brought a calender that I am to make a schedule on and I am to make an alarm on my phone to remind me to look at said schedule. She said on said schedule I'm to schedule outdoor time and hobbies. She told me that a group home isn't like living on your own. A group home basically tells you when to do everything it practically tells you when to breathe. She pointed out if i don't get into the habit of getting up get into a routine I'll likely spiral. She's right. I about did that a few days ago cuz i was being mopey. I been worried about my ability to be independent but I feel with her help I'll do well. I've decided imma do everything in my power to take care of my mental health and be independent. Right now I'm about to go to bed but I figured I'd post this here and ask if anyone got any ideas of hobbies I could schedule to try and experiment with or any advice for me since I've left the group home on becoming more independent. Preferably some inexpensive hobbies as I'm on a tight budget.

I'm thinking learning german, practicing and learning occult rituals, reading, going outside, training the cats, are all hobbies Imma try. Ill also be learning how to drive. But really having this much freedom to be and do things...I've never had this. It's kinda hard to sit and figure out what to do with it. It's difficult also for me to not want to sit doing nothing all day which likely would lead me to moping because that's typically what I'd do at the group home I was very restricted on doing things.

I especially have to get moving. Due to the meds I am on I recently had my labs drawn. Because my hemoglobin levels are higher than normal(but not too high to not donate) I'm going to have to donate blood as a form of therapeutic phlebotomy. This also means if I stay too stationary I'm at greater risk of blood clot should my levels get too high

Tldr: want advice on how to be more independent and ideas on hobbies. Particularly ones regarding movement as I'm apparently at greater risks for blood clots due to meds that I am on

Hi there! I'm on a strict budget as well. Here are some cheap activities that I do to keep myself busy and sometimes it helps me to make some extra cash! All of these are googleable crafts, I learned most of this stuff on YouTube. I make Mandala Dot Bottles, taking old wine or oil bottles and painting them. I use old yarn to make pom poms for my cat. There are some awesome tutorials on YouTube on DIY projects that take very little effort and money to make. Learning a new language is a great idea! Also, learning more about yourself and what your purpose is, is also a great thing to meditate on. Meditate while you craft! It's methodic and even cathartic sometimes. Volunteering is also a very growing experience. I took some time to volunteer at a local senior center and I feel like it was one of the best decisions of my life! I was able to help so many people, I learned so much and it also furthered my career goal of having social work under my belt. I am now an event coordinator and am having so much fun doing it! I learned how to make soap, surprisingly cheap to make (but can be dangerous if you're not a careful person). If you live in a woodsy area, I recommend building a fairy house. Not only do the fairies love it, but people think they're cool too! I tumble rocks, just ones that I find on my nature walks. I love seeing how rough rocks turn into the smooth shiny beauties they do after tumbling. I also do things with epoxy. It's fun to pour into molds and end up with a neat crafty thing you just made yourself! Like if you need jewelry boxes or nail bins, you can make them yourself out of epoxy, wood, glue, all kinds of things around the house. Making small plant terrariums is fun and fairly cheap too. Also, I would like to give a bit of advice... looking outside of yourself can surely help guide you to your goal and inspire you closer to your soul goal, but only looking within yourself will you fine any true answers... like " What do I really want to do with my life?" The answer to this question does not lie in any book, video, post or article. It is within you. That's why I say meditate on what your passion is. Some people take entire lifetimes to figure out what it is they're here for. Some people never even believe they had a purpose at all. Find out what gets you lost in time, so lost you didn't even realize the day went because you were so enraptured by the process of doing what you love. Sometimes it takes a while to learn what this is. So try lots of new things. Look on YouTube for CHEAP DIY CRAFTS and I'm sure you will find something you love. You'll turn it into a passion and you will forget that you were ever feeling any other way but satisfied. I hope this helps a bit! Good luck in your endeavors!

Independance is such a vague word though... I'm not sure where you are in your independence/dependency. Do you pay your own bills, feed yourself, take care of your household, pets, lawn? Are you physically or mentally challenged? Are you young and have never been on your own before? These are all questions someone would have to ask before anyone could give you any real world advice about your situation. I am an extremely independent person, but there are a lot of things that happened to me in my life to make me that way. I was pretty much thrown to the wolves when I was born, so I had to learn everything on my own because I've been on my own since I was 15. But, I realize that not everyone is so privileged! ;) I find it helpful to make lists. A priority list will help. Making yourself a day planner helps too. Remember checking off those boxes is a good way to release some of that Dopamine.... which in turn helps draw you out of a depressive state. Once you find a couple of things you really enjoy doing, your family will see that you are happy, healthy and busy! Also, I'm not sure what kinds of things you are into... are you a crafter or a builder? Are you a painter or sewer? Are you a rock collector or a stamp collector? What have you done in the past that you thought was really fun to do.... is there anything that you haven't tried that sounds like it would be fun to try? Do you have an interesting way of explaining things? Maybe try your hand out on making some YouTube videos.... I've seen over 200K views on someone's video of just showing their back yard! Have a neat collection, show it off! Sometimes making a new friend can inspire you! Friends are there to encourage you to do great things! :) And one last thing... your family is, and of course should be, concerned about your wellbeing... but have they suggested any (interesting to you) ideas to fill your day?
I will be going through this website's archive to see what books they have/don't have and I will start adding some reading material. I have just about anything esoteric you might want to read. I'm reading Dolores Cannon's books right now. I'm super excited to get through them, there's 19 of them and I've gotten through 6 of them. Her books are about how she did life regressions and found out that you can go so far back into someone's life that you can regress into the previous life or lives. I'll include those, if they are not in the archive. Gosh I hope this helps! Have a great day!

I pay my own bills and have started getting food from store on my own something I've never done regularly before. I'm supposed to take care of the house and the cats. I'm autistic with adhd and trauma issues. I'm young never been on my own like this before. I just got out a group home. They basically tell you everything you do. I worked for like 6 hours a day three days a week that was it. Most the time I was confined to my room with nothing but the internet and my books. Occasionally I'd go out in the community on my own I'd try for that once a week and was only allowed 6 hours out a day. I also took classes online. Really my main thing is getting used to not having someone on my back helping me to live like telling me when it's time to eat, shopping for me, reminding me when appointments are happening, providing meds etc...I need to get used to the idea I can leave the house whenever I want. I have never had that luxury and that kinda scares me. Makes me nervous. I keep wanting to shut myself up in my room come out eat go back occasionally doing homework rinse and repeat cuz that's easier not as unpredictable as figuring out how to take care of my mental health and physical health. Obviously I'd need to be the one to figure out what to do besides that. However I know staying in my room all the time like that will drive me mad.

I can legit do anything and that scares me. It's unpredictable. Even tho I know I try to incorporate change and fluidity a lot in my craft little things like this and my autism try to get in the way of me adapting sometimes to unpredictable stuff. I worry about screwing up. I worry about not being able to be independent like this. I'm worried if I mess up I'll be put back in the group home or have guardianship placed over me even tho that's unlikely. I'm fearing failure. But I know all that's not something I should worry about I should work on just being and adapting to everything.

I think maybe I just need time. I think I got this. I just need to relax.

you buy food, i presume you eat it too, you wake up aware of what is needed. be proud. take life slowly. make sure you dont get pests infestations, so clean every now and then. a lot of people find cleaning an outlet for many things, so its ok to be scared while doing the dishes (me). being angry while cleaning the shower even made it more clean. and when youre done and tired take a break, sit down with a cup of tea and look at what a great job you did and be proud. accept that youre tired of whatever makes you tired (for me people who want to save me from whatever they think i need to be saved of) and relax till youre back and say mm that moping did me good now im gonna do something else that does me good, like cooking a meal i like, because i like me and i like taking care of me.

cooking is a great hobby. pinterest (sorry for the promo) is pretty damn cool for finding all sorts of recipes with all kinds of ingredients. so yeah again a lot of choices, but it makes your moping time useful and more fun. (believe me, i know) i found i love to deep clean, weekly cleaning not so much so im slowly tumbling into a wyrd rhythm of experiencing life as a housewife as a hobby. doing it my way, all the way.

i never could get my head around time tables etc, but i know a lot of people who loved the fly ladies. look them up theyre pretty damn cool.

Building miniatures is cool and fun too. Build yourself a replica of your town, or just your house. Make little furniture to put in it. And yeah, sometimes it's ok to have a mopey day... gives us some time for reflection, which is very important for learning who we are. I'm the kind of person who would probably have a "fake project" in the middle of my spare bedroom so if someone came to check on my "productivity" I would show them the "very important" project I'm working on. That idea should give you a way out for days that ya just don't "feel like it". My husband is autistic as well and I think I have some slightly autistic tendencies too. We have an alarm on my phone that goes off every night for med time. An alarm for waking up for work, and any other events that I might forget about after a week or so (like monthly meetings...etc.). We also have a calendar that hangs over the kitchen sink... I recommend putting one where you would see it every day. You could make your own calendar! It helps to be organized too... 8Lou1 has an excellent point about cleaning. Clean your space and organize your belongings... clean space=clean mind... ESPECIALLY if you plan to get into esoteric stuff! The first rule of working with any type of magic (or at least it SHOULD be the first rule) is to clean your space. My son tried to pull some BS on me about his room being messy because he was working with "Chaos Magic".... that is NOT how Chaos Magic works. ;)
If you would like to further your education without breaking your pocketbook, there are courses online for free that you can take on alison.com. You have to pay for the certificates, but if you're just doing it for your own benefit then I would recommend you check it out. They offer thousands of courses. Just type whatever you may want to learn into the search bar there and BOOM a whole list of classes will appear. They are usually 2-3 hour classes that you take in your own time. Some longer, some shorter.
I've looked at the archive here and there's a lot to go through so I'll just give you a link to a ton of esoteric books, articles and PDFs. It's a pretty big rabbit hole, so maybe set an alarm to pull yourself out of it and reflect before moving on.
