What Ziran said. Violating consent of any party during ritual is going to bite you back quite badly since it basically creates a gap in the whole structure. It creates a broken geometry. Would you live in a house that had incomplete structural supports?

If I need to, anything connected to the person serves well. Sometimes I wanted some individuals to stop being in my life, then of course I worked without consent. And any substitute I choose, worked well.

Most are assuming the person didnt consent. Its possible however the person may have but you just dont have anything personal of theirs. Like if it is a ritual on a person you know only online. It also could be a ritual you cant get consent for because the person is dead. The consent part then would be if the spirit responds to the ritual. Or it could be a ritual to let go of your own feelings about someone like a cord cutting.. In that case the ritual is on you not on them. Or it could require a specific personal item. If someone asked me for a toy or other item from my childhood for a ritual I wouldn't have really anything I could give for example. Theres tons of reasons why you wouldnt have a personal item of someone's and not all are "they don't want me to do magic on them."

If you have consent and dont have a personal item? Depends on the ritual and what type of personal item you need. That would change my answer. You might can get away with their name on a paper, a photo, a symbol replacement that reminds you of them(like a doll to represent them), but it really depends.
