(Novice here) How effective do you think the binaural tone videos are for astral projection/OBE? Also maybe some other questions

Hi peoples,

I want to learn more about astral projection, after doing a little research into Robert Monroe etc. I was big into lucid dreaming when I was younger, so I'm vaguely familiar with some of the concepts and terminology in a basic way. I tried one of those youtube videos with the theta and beta binarual tones/frequency last night and I felt a very strange sensation after becoming very relaxed, like an energetic string was kind of being pulled from my spine/neck area or something idk and then my head jolted. That was it though, and I fell asleep. What do you think of these videos, are they effective or is it better practice not to?

Also When I was practicing lucid dreaming, I wasn't doing astral projection/OBE but I was pretty good at the WILD method or at least getting into the sleep paralysis state. I would kind of roll out, fall, then assess my surroundings. Sometimes I'd fall through the floor I think or try to fly to try and lucid dream. Is that the same state we're trying to get into if we're trying to do astral projection/OBE? Hoping to look in the library section for more reading too so if y'all have any further reading recommendations while you're at it, feel free

Most people have unique methods to lucid dream. I use the finger counting method. I can basically lucid dream every night. Count your fingers on one hand throughout the day whenever anything odd or weird happens, keep doing that make it a habit and eventually whenever you dream your subconscious mind will feel that something is off and you will count your fingers. There are never 5 fingers in dreams, for me usually a lot more or my hand is blurry, at that point I go lucid.

This is a good method takes time to get the habit down, but its much more reliable that wild and other lucid dreaming methods.

For astral projection methods, what i do is I usually manage to switch from a lucid dream to astral as long as i have full control of the lucid dream.
I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere so maybe its a unique method im used to. Check out this if you are a absolute beginner in astral projection, it has a lot of theory and methods to practical astral projection

, If you want in depth guide i recommend Ophiel books.

Theta and beta binaural tones can be effective, but i wouldn't rely on them, perhaps to start they could assist in getting in the right state of mind, certain breathing techniques can also increase chances of astral projecting.

I have personally tried 396 Hz and it works to get into the astral realm but to maintain the astral plane you need to be in a calm mind space, the frequency wont assist you much inside the astral plane, when you become experienced you can use certain frequencies to make small changes. Like 963 Hz to maintain the state for longer than your usual time.

I suggest you time yourself, if you can sync or understand the timing of your personal astral projection experience it will make it much easier to get into that state.

Anyway i ramble a lot, let me know if you have any other specific questions.

You may also want to look into Monroe Institute Hemi-Sync AKA Gateway Process.

There's threads about that and the entire set of FLAC files are over in the Book Shares section.

Sh not rambling at all, I appreciate the response, and thank you as well for the link! :D

The calm thing makes sense. I kinda lost my calm after that sensation, so it was difficult to get back to it. I shall keep trying and also look into the breathing techniques. I think those will work well for me, since I've been focusing more on those in meditation for some time now.

The sleep paralysis or hypnagogic state is the doorway to conscious OBEs. During initial projections, before fully separating from the physical body, you may perceive Astral vampires (visions of whatever you fear) or hear bells and random noises, anything designed to generate fear (to feed the Astral vampires) and keep you anchored to the physical form.

If you focus and push past this stage, your consciousness will exit the physical body, and your vision will become spherical, perceiving in all directions simultaneously. From there, you can travel instantly through thought, whether within this world or into other realms, if you increase or decrease your vibration you could visit what mystics call Heaven and Hell.

Once you complete your first projection, the next ones become very easy. You won’t experience fear again, and you can also enter OBEs directly from lucid dreams.

Thank you for your description, it's reassuring to know what happens after that stage :D

Not on my case. I have only once successfully managed to get out of sleep paralysis into an OBE, and never again

Good info. The times I have managed to lucid dream, I've yet to have an OBE, have almost always been preceded by something scary. The last time I got close I was on the edge of it when I hear something large in the next room pawing the floor, I fell for it and opened my eyes to check.

When you sleep your breathing is very shallow.
If you wake up during this time (perhaps while feeling vibrations) you will struggle to breathe because of sleep paralysis, but you are just fine. It happens every night and you are not aware of it. The feeling of suffocation absolutely panics people.
The mind will 'fill in' a reason for you why you are not breathing normally. That reason likely involves some monster harassing you.
There is NO monster. It's just your mind.
For example, I was watching something on tv about cute little puppies. Adorable! I feel asleep and dreamt that a big ole puppy was sitting on my chest and that is why I felt pressure. Since I first started astral projecting when I was a teenager (forty years ago now lol) I knew what was happening and simply used the opportunity to astral project.
Let me be clear: There was NO big ole spiritual puppy sitting on my chest. It's just a reflection of what I had just put into my mind from the tv.
There are astral dangers to be sure, but there are simple physical explanations about what is going on as well.
Your mind will create all this stuff for you based on your mentality at the time.
