So i started down a spiritual journey a few years back. Ill do good studying, practicing what I do know and then ill hit hiccups because ill spread myself to think and feel like I need to absorb as much as I can as fast as I can. Ive now stumbled upon Ficino, Bruno, ive studied all essentials like kabbalah, gnostism, I really apply hermetics daily, as well as astrology and tarot. Currently trying to do the Fools journey. Im trying to find a step by step that kinda cover alot of this. Any recommendations on what I really should be looking into? I stumbled upon the book modern magic and trying to find Ficinos Three Books on Life. Am I heading in the right direction or do I need to veer course in a different direction? Thanks for any advice

I think this might be the point where you have to ask yourself which parts of everything you've read, make the most sense to you. After all, you're not just an empty vessel to be filled up with books 🙂

You might, for example, find yourself disagreeing with some of the things - and that would be a good sign 🙂

Being a magician is about being yourself, and finding what works best for you. And if that means you have to build it yourself, so be it!

Strictly speaking, requests for book recommdations belong into Book Discussion and Reviews with a Seeking Recommendation tag (just doing my Librarian job) but in your case, I think it's more about subjects to explore. If you wish to remain focussed on Western occultism, I think you should give the Greek Magical Papyri (PGM) a whirl. Or you could look into broad-based syncretic currents of the 19th century (Eliphas Levi, Golden Dawn) for an overview and then investigate specifically from which sources they got their ideas from, e.g. how they remodelled Christian cabala and turned it into their own Hermetic brand, what bits they borrowed from where, etc.

Hey! I can’t recommend Low Magick by the great Lon Milo DuQuette and Imperial Arts by John King IV enough if you’re going down the evocation route. I reckon they’ll give you a good idea of where you could take your own path.
