Been working on a Norse current lately—took the bones of the Star Ruby and Middle Pillar and rebuilt them through Yggdrasill. The result is Yggdrastafr: a working that banishes, aligns, raises runic fire through the body, and ends in a full Odin-as-Archetype possession rite.

It’s less about “calling quarters” and more about standing as the World Tree itself, channeling the runes, and walking Odin’s path of self-sacrifice and gnosis. Curious if anyone here would want to see the full structure, with Old Norse calls and English translations. I've had some remarkable results with it. It has potential. If anyone else would like to give it a gander, let me know.

Think star
How long does it take to perform? Nine days?
Ha! You're brilliant! The ritual takes about 90 minutes, once you know it it can be performed in just under an hour. Think banishing>energy raising>Headless Rite... but why not make it a 9 day initiatory ordeal? could

So the crack is funny, but it also accidentally points at a real magical angle: I could ritually structure it as a 9-day ordeal to deepen its connection to Odin’s sacrifice, each day tied to a rune, world, and aspect of the myth. I LIKE IT! Thanks! I'm gonna work on that...

I'd like to see how it's done too.

Ok. I'm working on getting it into a word file from hand written notes in a ritual journal. I can send you the word file or a PDF if you like, but I need a day. If enough interest is shown I'll just post it as a tutorial eventually.

Would love to read it eventually myself, especially in nine days version after you test it. Multiple days long ritual works are fascinating. Did only one so far, but I must admit that it really was something worth doing.

Any way is fine. Take your time, I know it can be a lot of work to digitize one's written notes :D

I've been working on this. The full 9 day ritual structure is almost complete. I'm not sure if I should break it down into sections and post here or just put it in the journaling section, or simply put it on my google drive as a PDF, and share the link for anyone interested to just grab a copy. As I'm writing this the last option seems to be the best but I'm not sure if it's permissable to share a document link?

Since it's not an advertisement of goods or services, it should be okay to post a link here. They don't permit shortened links for security reasons. And in the library there's still a rule about only using MEGA. In the journaling session it's more likely to be overlooked, I think it's best to eventually post it in Tutorials if you want people to find it. I'm looking forward to studying that PDF (and trying the ritual once I understand it's elements, ofc)

Yggdrastafr – Norse Banishing & Alignment Rite

A Norse-framed fusion of the Star Ruby and Middle Pillar

Prologue

Yggdrastafr is my personal adaptation of the Star Ruby and Middle Pillar, filtered through the Norse cosmology. It is a banishing and alignment ritual; a method to clear stagnant energy, anchor yourself within the Nine Worlds, and move runic energy through the body as a vertical pillar of power.

When I first replaced “Io Pan” with "Hail Yggdrasill!" the effect was immediate: ecstatic, grounding, and clarifying. The Norse currents are as potent as Greek hymns or Hebrew formulae, perhaps more so because they resonate with my path.

We do not kneel to the Norse powers. We genuflect, one knee down, palms offered, not in submission, but in respect, in honor, in emulation. This ritual is a way to stand tall, rooted like the World Tree, crowned in the heavens.

The cheat sheet below lays out the steps. The narrative afterwards gives you a mythic, immersive sense of performing the rite.

Cheat Sheet / Ritual Flow

Duration: 30-45 minutes to learn; 5-10 minutes once internalized
Purpose: Banishing, alignment, energy activation, ecstatic gnosis
Structure: 3 Phases – Banishing/Anchoring → Energy Activation → Sealing

Phase 1: Sacred Space & Banishing (5–10 min)

Entry & Orientation

1. Enter from the South, move to center, facing North
2.Teaching note: North-first is traditional for Heathens; South-first is my practice.
3.Center first, then turn to each quarter: embody in your microcosm, then project outward

1. Clearing the Hall

Gesture: hammer/cross sign in chosen starting direction
Old Norse: Út með alla illu vætti! (OOT meth ALL-ah ILL-oo VET-tee)
Exhale sharply, 3×, louder each time, expelling energy

2. Quarter Deities Invocation

North (Hel): arms crossed, vibrate “Hel”
East (Odin): right arm up, left down, vibrate “Óðinn”
South (Thor): hammer gesture, vibrate “Þórr”
West (Freyja): arms open, palms up, vibrate “Freyja”
Return to center; absorb combined presence

3. Rune Pentagrams / Traces

North - Othala: roots & ancestry
East - Ansuz: silver-blue sparks
South - Kenaz: golden flame
West - Laguz: flowing water

4. Central Cosmic Invocation

Gesture: Valknut arms overhead
Intonation: Heil Yggdrasill!
Visualization: You are the Tree, roots below, crown above

5. Initiatory Gestures (Nótt ok Dagr)

Overhead → Valknut, fingertips touching forming triangle
crossed arms → corpse posture
Hands over mouth → silence
Genuflect (one knee down), palms up → offering to Norns
Intone: Nótt ok Dagr (NOHT ok DAH-gr)

6. Guardian Anchors

Before: Huginn | Behind: Muninn | Right: Urðr | Left: Skuld

Phase 2: Middle Pillar Energy Activation (10-20 min)

1. Axis Alignment – Become Yggdrasill

  • Feet rooted in Niflheim; crown reaching Ásgarðr
  • Inhale cosmic light from above; exhale grounding into the earth
  • Visualize yourself as the World Tree, vertical axis connecting the Nine Worlds
2. Middle Pillar Rune Nodes / Internal Energy Centers

Flow Instructions:

Begin at Feet (Othala), grounding fully
Move upward node by node, visualizing rune energy filling each center
Pause at Crown (Dagaz), feel vertical pillar fully formed
Radiate energy outward along your aura, projecting the runes’ archetypal power
Reverse flow (Crown → Feet) to integrate and anchor

3. Upward Flow

Draw energy from Feet → Crown, rune names lightly vocalized

4. Downward Flow / Integration

Spiral energy down, Crown → Feet, anchoring elemental, ancestral, and cosmic forces

5. Guardian Reinforcement

Visualize Huginn, Muninn, Urðr, Skuld stabilizing aura

Phase 3: Closing / Sealing (5 min)

1. Hands over heart, breathe fully
2. Chant: Umkringr mig brennr rúnanna, innan mig skínn ljóss Yggdrasils! (OOM-kreeng-er meeg BREN-nr ROON-an-na
IN-nan meeg SKEENN lyohss IGG-drah-sils)
3.Stand silently 1–3 minutes; integrate energies

Narrative Walkthrough – Yggdrastafr

I enter the space from the South, moving with deliberate steps to the center. My body faces North, but my awareness spreads in all directions. I stand still, breathing deep.

I raise my right hand in the hammer-cross, steady and deliberate. The words come low, almost a whisper:
“Út með alla illu vætti!”
I exhale sharply, shoulders and chest dropping as if casting out a shadow.

Again, louder, clearer, sharper:
“Út með alla illu vætti!”
The words strike outward, pushing unseen weight from the room.

Once more, firm and commanding, my whole body behind it:
“Út með alla illu vætti!”
My breath cuts like steel. The air feels cleaner, the hall lighter, my senses alert.

I pivot North. Arms cross over my chest in the posture of the dead. My voice steady:
“Hel!”
The room grows still; a cold presence settles, grounding me in inevitability.

Turning East, I lift my right arm high, left hand low.
“Óðinn!”
The air stirs; I feel thought and vision flash through me like ravens taking flight.

I turn South. My arm raises like a hammer-strike, fist clenched.
“Þórr!”
The echo of thunder fills my chest, strength rising like stormfire.

I turn West. My arms open wide, palms up to receive.
“Freyja!”
Warmth spills in, a flood of love and vitality, golden as mead.

I return to the center. The four powers converge through me — death’s stillness, wisdom’s spark, thunder’s fire, love’s embrace.

With steady breath, I begin the runes. Facing East, I trace Ansuz in the air, finger glowing in my mind’s eye with silver-blue fire. “AHN-sooz.” The rune hangs, crackling.

To the South, I carve Kenaz, flame sparking golden, the torch aflame. “KAY-naz.”

To the West, I draw Laguz, shimmering waves flowing outward. “LAH-gooz.”

To the North, I carve Othala, deep roots and ancestral land glowing solid beneath. “OH-thah-lah.”

Each rune blazes at its quarter, surrounding me in a shining ward.

I lift both arms into the Valknut overhead and cry out:
“Heil Yggdrasill!”
My voice rises to a shout. My body trembles as roots drive down into Helheim and branches stretch skyward into Ásgarðr. I feel myself as the axis mundi, the living Tree.

I move through the initiatory gestures: arms overhead, then crossed in corpse posture, then both hands covering my mouth in silence. Finally, I step one knee down in genuflection, palms lifted in offering. The words vibrate low:
“Nótt ok Dagr.”
The cycle of day and night, death and rebirth, flows through me.

The Guardians close in. I feel Huginn before me, Muninn at my back, Urðr to my right, Skuld to my left. They circle and weave their threads, holding the space stable.

Now the pillar awakens.

I plant my feet firmly, grounding in Niflheim, crown reaching Ásgarðr. Inhale light through the crown, exhale down into the soil. I am Yggdrasill.

Feet: hands on thighs, I galdr Othala. Roots drive deep, ancestral soil holds me. “OH-thah-lah.”
Pelvis: hands at lower abdomen, galdr Jera. Cycles spiral, Midgard turns. “YEH-rah.”
Solar plexus: hands over stomach, galdr Sowilo. A golden sun blazes inside me. “SOH-wee-lo.”
Heart: hands crossed over chest, galdr Gebo. A pink-gold web of kinship and offering. “GAY-bo.”
Throat: hands at throat, galdr Ansuz. Odin’s breath flows silver-blue through my voice. “AHN-sooz.”
Third Eye: fingers to forehead, galder Raidho. Sleipnir’s wheel spins, path and vision aligned. “RYE-tho.”
Crown: hands overhead, galdr Dagaz. White-gold dawn breaks in my skull, spilling over. “DAH-gaz.”

The runes blaze within, a vertical column of light spiraling upward through me, body to crown. I exhale each rune-name, feeding the current upward.

Then I reverse, pulling light downward from crown to feet, spiral grounding into earth. My hands press energy down along my spine. The light steadies, seals, anchors.

The Guardians tighten their weave. Huginn’s sight, Muninn’s memory, Urðr’s thread, Skuld’s mystery — my aura hums, fully aligned.

Hands press over my heart. Breath full and steady. I chant with finality:
“Umkringr mig brennr rúnanna, innan mig skínn ljóss Yggdrasils!”
Around me burns the runes of power; within me shines the light of Yggdrasill.

Silence. Stillness. I stand until the glow subsides, integrated, complete.

Practitioner Notes

  1. Initial duration: 30-45 min; internalized: 5-10 min
  2. Do not rush learning stage: embody, dream, and know the ritual fully
  3. Runes are archetypal powers; understanding their “why” is essential
Runelore strengthens later work: Odin-Saga rites, possession rites

Further Work

  1. Odinic Saga (Bornless) Ritual: Odinic translation of the Headless Rite
  2. Nine-Day Ordeal: Saga-based working for those called further

End Notes

I am a Chaos Mage; I do not follow Chaoite or any other manifestos verbatim. The lesson I carry: ritual pomp is unnecessary for power.
Yggdrastafr is deliberately ritualistic: Norse cosmology, myth, and runic power chosen for my path. It is meaningful, instructive, and entertaining.

This rite is mine. I share it because others expressed interest. If it resonates, use it. If not, leave it.
