Peter J. Carroll has passed away

Just heard that Peter J. Carroll has sadly passed away. From his publisher:

Peter J Carroll (1953-2026)
The Wizard has gone. With great sadness, we have to inform all that the celebrated occultural author, teacher, and innovator Peter J Carroll passed away unexpectedly in the early hours of Wednesday 22nd April 2026. He was a star whose books and ideas changed the lives of millions. He was instrumental in the birth of Chaos Magick, one the most significant new magical/philosophical streams of thought of our times. He is survived by a wife and two daughters. Pete will be cremated in a simple private ceremony for close friends and family. He leaves a great legacy which will be the subject of a longer eulogy and memorial in due course. An online memorial page will be available shortly

What a tragedy! Insane that I only just read Liber Null & Psychonaut for the first time a few months ago. I'd always planned to get around to it, but something finally spurred me to read it. Maybe the collective unconscious was trying to tell me something.

I saw this pop-up on other socials and had to verify it was real. Peter J. Carroll is a true legend and will be greatly missed.
Ave, brother Carroll.

A sad day for Chaotes around the world. Alongside Sherwin, Carroll's distillation of Spare's ideas and concepts gave us the wonderful Liber Null/Pyschonaut. It's been over 20 years since I picked up my first copy! While my path has shifted quite a lot since then, I still consider Chaos Magick foundational to my practice. Rest in Peace, Stokastikos.
