Before following this guide there are some prerequisites you need to know and have at least some practice with as follows: Basic energy manipulation and sensing, the ability to communicate with plants, a practice that would benefit from making use of plant essences, and the most important respect for the plants you're working with
(Low level construct work is also recommended by not necessary for everything in this guide.)

Last time I gave instructions and information on how to communicate essentially anything both physical and spiritual (barring some really weird spirits); this time I will be teaching you what plant essences are and how to use them. Let's get into it why don't we?

What are Plant Essences?
Plant essences from my perspective are many things. On a basic level they are a combination of a plant's vital energies and loosely their souls. When I say soul I do not mean it in the same way you and I might have one. These are loosely bound energies tied to the plant's physical tissues and spiritual awareness but are not a centralized tightly bundled core so to say. These essences carry the spiritual properties of a plant as well as mirror their physical traits. For example, the essence from Capsicum annuum (The Common Pepper Plant) has a very fiery essence that is reminiscent of both the sun that nightshades love so much, but also the spiciness of their fruit. There is far more to essence's properties than that, but for a basic descriptor and use that will suffice. This is a guide, not an anthology so I will leave you the reader to explore their properties more.

How to Collect Plant Essences?
So now that you loosely understand WHAT plant essences are how do you get your hands on them? Well, first remember that plants rely on these essences to help keep living and protect themselves spiritual and physically. If you take too much you can impact the health of the plant spiritually and physically. Be respectful and try not to take too much which is why communication is important.

1. Find your Target: Find a plant that seems like it is physically healthy and looks like it is brimming with energy preferably (make sure there isn't a spirit attached to the plant if possible). Also make sure the target is willing to give you essences through a conversation. A fairly easy way to make sure you are not just taking essence is to give something back to the plant. Ask it what it wants whether it be watering it, trading some of your energy for its essence, or even things like spreading its seeds.

2. Determine the Best Way to Harvest the Essence: Different plants are different and have better and worse ways of harvesting the essence. First determine what your use case for the essence is. Are you going to be using the leaves for a tincture, harvesting the wood for a ritual revolving around fire, or even just using the essence directly? Once you have the answer, communicate with the plant and offer what it wanted in exchange for what you want. Next if you are doing a physical harvesting method cut the part of the plant off that you need with clean instruments. This will cause the plant essence to immediate start leaking out of both the wound you created, but also the harvest piece. This is where energy work and preferably construct work comes into play. I recommend creating an impermeable energy barrier much like a waterproof bandage around the cut area of your piece to stop the essence from bleeding off. For longer storage create a leaf tight energy barrier that prevents energy from flowing through it all around your harvested piece. If you are directly harvesting and using essences without any physical component do not fret; in most cases plants are actually capable of expelling essences themselves since they leak very small amounts normally just like your energy system does. From there store the energy or use it immediately (simple psi balls can work to temporarily store it)

How to Use Plant Essences?
Now that you have the plant essences how do you use them? Well that depends on your practice and creativity. If your spell, ritual, or offering calls for leaves, bark, roots, etc just use them as you normally would and watch the difference! If however you are doing something a bit more open ended then I recommend feeling the essences and what stands out to you in their properties. Take those feelings and intuitions mix them with some creativity and boom you have something special. Herbs charged with plant essences will have a much bigger effect than normal herbs would. Keeping that essence inside the parts actively makes your work easier and stronger.
is that all? No not at all! Plant essences can be used for so many things. I myself use them to do things like enhance healing by directly applying them like an energy bandage to my wounds, create teas that charge my body with their powers, and even trading them with spirits. There are other applications with using other plant's essences to aid sick plants as well! A wealth of different things you can do with them, but ill leave any of that for future tutorials and for your own experiments. Just remember to be respectful and enjoy the gifts of life you hold within your hands.

P.S. If you are having issues getting essences from a specific type of plant contact me and I might be able to help. I have been doing this for a long time and have many connections.
