I like gardening and as I get older spend more time there . Favorite plants are casurina trees and bangalow palms , bromiliads and cycads (or any ancient native plant ) , tee ferns , flame tree ( which I am named after , but in Bunjalung language )
Illawarra Flame Tree
Webra ( fire ) Jali (tree ) .
a few exotics ; Belgian Congo parrot plants , purple passion , Persian sword .
The property here has a heap of native food trees on it and some imports from Sth America ( decades back the local hospital doctor took a trip there to a similar latitude to here , he came back with a heap of seeds ( totally illegal nowadays ) and made a St American rain forest garden on land behind the small town hospital . Eventually it spread or got sampled , So we have a great variety of exotic fruits here ; like sapote and ice cream bean trees and others .
regarding the 'other stuff ' ... this area has a reputation for that .... but are we supposed to talk about that here ?
One more pic ... becasue this tree has such an amazing and wonderful dryad - Casurina , the 'she oak' ;
...
droopy soft 'needles' that can leave a thick mat beneath the trees . They also produce food for the rare and endangered glossy black cockatoo.
