To all experiencing the truth of their own path, you have my true extollation.

I unpresumptively ask of your guidance, wisdom, and perceptions regarding a juncture that has manifested upon my journey.

I will be petitioning the brotherhood of Freemasonry for membership next week as I have been invited to attend a dinner at their lodge.
I am not ignorant of the history, beliefs, rituals, and deductions that are customarily endorsed by online masses.

At this point in my journey this commitment appears to be unquestionably advantageous to my spiritual growth and understanding, professional aspirations, and network of correspondence.

What words of guidance, warning, disapproval or hostility are you willing or even compelled to share with this prospective 'PRE-mason'

Again my deepest gratitude to any who elucidate their beliefs on this matter.

Cheers and adulations my friends.

I'd say go in with an open mind, listen more than speak, enjoy and learn what you will, and everything else will fall into place for you! ;)

I have been a Master Mason for over 20 years. Just work through the degrees, make Master Mason and work your way around the lodge room in different positions. Become Worshipful Master and sit in the big seat if thats your aim. Lodges are not all the same. Some are small and some are large. The small ones are easer to make WM and serve in the positions you want. Larger lodges have more people in line and is a bit more involved and requires a little more patience. Grab a copy of “Duncans Masonic Ritual” and take a look at what you are in for.

Spaghetti dinners, Child ID program, lodge decisions on what person to sponsor or help.
Helping the newbies learn their catechism’s/ritual work. This is the meat of your work at the Blue Lodge

After you make Master Mason you have a choice. Stay at the Blue Lodge and work the positions around the lodge room and help newbies or move on to York or Scottish Rite. Each path is different. One path is darker than the other. Its evedent when looking at the chart with the degrees. After the Blue lodge depending on your area there may be many offshoot lodges to participate in. But being a Master Masons from a Blue Lodge is required for participation in these offshoots.

You can take trips to Grand Lodge yearly to see the code books revealed (only Master Masons) and compete against others to see who remembers the catechisms word for word the best.

You have yearly dues you must pay. It covers lodge rent, food, drinks and utilities. And there is a Masonic Retirement home you can pay into For old age.

Hope this helps paint a picture of what it may be like in your local lodge.

Good luck!
