0. The laogung channels through which energy flows in and out of the body, serving as pathways through which universal energy is supplied to the human body. Before beginning training to sense energy, it is important to properly relax both the mind and the body.
1. First, rub your hands together vigorously until your palms feel warm. Then clap at least 50 times. The sensation in the Jang-shim points will become more noticeable as blood circulates actively through the entire palms of both hands. When clapping, spread your hands wide like fans to make sure all parts of both palms are fully stimulated.
2. Relax your entire body comfortably so there is no tension in your neck, shoulders, arms, or chest, and allow your mind to relax as well. Press your palms together in front of your chest and focus on the sensations in your palms.
Keeping your attention on the warmth in your palms naturally leads to concentration. Stay focused on your hands, noticing even the smallest sensations present there.
At first, you will feel body heat, and then you may begin to notice both warm and cool sensations. Be aware of the blood flowing from your heart through your arteries to your hands. You may feel the pulse within your hands, along with other subtle sensations.
3.Continue to keep your awareness on the palms of your hands as you slowly move them about 5 to 10 cm apart. In your hands, you may notice sensations such as warmth, tingling, and what feels like a magnetic force or gentle pressure. Your hands may even feel as though they are floating in the air.
4. Maintaining this feeling, slowly move your hands apart as you inhale and bring them closer together as you exhale. It is important to stay relaxed and move slowly and naturally. Once you can concentrate easily, you can continue this practice regardless of your breathing pattern.
You may begin to feel a strong energy field, soft like jelly, forming between your hands. If this sensation becomes stronger, move your hands even farther apart and pay attention to the changes in the Qi energy as the distance between your palms increases.
Your hands may start to feel like magnets, gently pushing away from and pulling toward each other. This sensation is very subtle at first, but with continued focus it gradually becomes stronger and clearer. As the sense of Qi energy grows, move your hands farther apart. Follow the flow of this energy with your hands, feel its movement, and simply experience the sensation.
