Nice. The wonderful Dr. Iain McGilchrist discovers magic. Almost.
Well, this aligns with what as I’ve been arguing here, why leaving the exact nature of "The Mystery" "The Numinous" (as God, or gods, or quantum physics) as an open question actually makes magic work better. Making it all routine kills magic faster than having your parents at a spin-the-bottle party.
Conversely, when in ritual (nee ceremony), one must then take all this very literally because you are now 'in' or approaching the dominion of the right hemisphere. (And from personal experience what we meet in the grim trad tradition will seem to be very very real, very solid, and intelligent.)
You wouldn’t go into a movie like Star Wars and jump up yelling at the screen that Chewbacca 'really is' just a guy in a Wookiee suit. That would be dumb. But similarly, coming out of the theater, you would not go around claiming Chewbacca is "really real" either. Well, I mean, you CAN. But that would look insane.

Quantum physics, taoism, and the hemispheres
A really fascinating and accessible exploration by physicist Ruth Kastner
