Thinking for a while of creating this post as I feel I have put into practice a majority of the books on Moon Magick I currently own.
My favourite book at the moment for Moon Magick was the Modern Witchcraft Book on Moon Magick by Julia Hadas which surprised me as I tend to avoid the Modern Witchcraft series (Usually too shallow of an exploration of the subject to justify purchasing or pursuing the books in the series). But it actually explores a lot of aspects a bit more in depth.
My other favourite before it was Beneath the Moon by Rachel Patterson but in reflection, I feel this was a rather shallow exploration and mostly just lists of correspondences - some conflicting or contradicting the previous listing of the ingredient. I think it’s useful in terms of a reference for creating spells but I feel it would have benefited from a more in depth approach.
The most recent book I read on Moon Magick was the Llewellyn’s Complete book of Moon Magick by Jesamyn Angelica but I felt it was definitely not a “complete” exploration compared to other books on Moon Magick which was disappointing.
Other notable books that were a great influence on my practice included Mansions of the Moon by Christopher Warnock, Dark Moon Mysteries by Timothy Roderick, Everyday Moon Magick by Dorothy Morrison (the book that started it all actually), Stellar Magic by Payam Nabarz and Ann Moura’s Mansions of the Moon for the Green Witch.
Other books I have already read on the subject but either didn’t make an impression or was repeated information in an “Explain like I’m 5” format / shallow reading mainly full of journal prompts -
I think the aim of this recommendations post is any books on lunar magick that I may have missed, purely because it isn’t in the title or it may explore other things in depth as well but not pertaining to lunar magick.
I found a lot more interesting things about the Moon and her place in witchcraft as well by researching and reading about astrology (Practical Astrology for Witches and Pagans by Ivo Dominguez and Denning and Phillips Planetary Magick) and finding bits/pieces in books mainly about folklore (There was a lot of interesting information I found in books about Ozark magick for example, which I would have never thought to have looked into!)
Just thinking my way of researching or hunting down books to read for more in depth information about lunar witchcraft (Gods/Goddesses, folklore, the phases, interactions with water/the sea, interactions with other planets etc) may be shortsighted, and thinking maybe individuals here would have some helpful recommendations on where to look for further information or exploration.
