Ritual to discover or identify a spirit's identity

Dear friends, I hope you’re doing well.

I need some help or guidance regarding a matter.
I belong to a group—a temple—where the tutelary deity manifests under a specific name.

However, this spirit frequently presents itself with various identities; at times it claims to be one thing, then another (X, Y, this, that, etc.).

The problem is that this spirit has been receiving all the benefits but isn't giving us anything in return. It is a dark, evil force spirit...

I would like to know if you are aware of any PDF, book, or magical system that would allow me to DISCOVER THIS SPIRIT'S REAL NAME!

Oh - O ! ANY valid system of working with a spirit should have included that during the original contact ! Also one should know the ways of testing such information for its validity ( what name did it give ? ) .

If you are in a magical group that has a 'tutelary ' spirit , that you do not feel good about , and no one knows its identity . . .

If I were you .... get out now .

Many dark and trickster type spirits specialize in fluid presentation and thrive on exploiting gaps in discernment. I have commented before on spirit identification in many other posts around the forum, identifying them down to their gender, and this case is no different.

You are dealing with a spirit that is quite dark. I would not categorize it as evil, but it is absolutely a rascal. That said, I am not going to give you further specifics about its identity, because in your situation it would not make a difference.

You are already in too deep as a group, and having a label to pin on it won’t suddenly neutralize the consequences of attempting to cut it off. The real issue is not identification, this is a classic pattern of dependency.
