Does anyone have an experience calling in saints or completing novenas successfully but without using candles? I can't burn candles where I live, so I'm trying to find alternative methods of successfully getting my petitions fulfilled.

Candles are used as a form of respect and altar making when saying the novenas. They are not mandatory though.

I for one said various prayers to Virgin Mary (for emotional health and family blessings), Saint Archangels Uriel, Selaphiel, Gabriel, Michael and other Archangels as well and I didn't have either the specific color candles or candles at all. Intention in the heart matters. Say the prayer with a faithful and sincere heart.

I sometimes think, did Manasses have candles in prison when praying? Of course not. But he had one thing that is required for every successful prayer: Faith and a sincere heart.

The rosary can be used beyond the standard Marian prayers, maybe using it to pray the required number of novena days to a particular saint instead? No candle necessary
