In November of 2023, I was driving home from a late work day when I was thrown into an accident on the Highway. I was driving about 70mph when a tire flew off the rear passenger side of an oversized Dodge truck and bounced over the meridian and hit my window, right into my face. I was knocked unconscious and was, initially reported as dead over the police scanner. The impact of the oversized tire was calculated to have impacted by both my speed and the tire as roughly 49,500 ppsi. I don't know the math honeslty but that was told to me by the State officer on site.
I came to, not knowing fully what happened and realized my car was still moving. I was completely delusional acting on simple instincts. I could not see out of anything. My roof caved in and I was bleeding, realizing I was covered in glass. My car bumped into another car as the vehicle itself was coasting and still in gear. Upon putting the vehicle in park, I proceeded to climb out the driver side door which still worked. I hit the pavement and picked myself up only to lean against a mangled Hyundai I once called "my ride."
There was an officer on site already- who was able to fill me in on the situation. He explained the tire, the accident, the Dodge truck and the other vehicles his tire smashed into after collapsing into my vehicle's windshield then roof at roughly 80+ mph impact. Still delusional, I waited for the paramedic van to arrive.
In the end, after several hospital visits and lots of medications, I had no broken bones but dislocations and painful issues with torn muscles, torn ligaments, shifted spinal cord and Post Concussive issues which I still am dealing with even now. I use a cane now. I trained two of my daughters on the tribal practice of a Fire Keeper and Waabano Medicine because I am unable to maintain the daily routine and times properly- both are now recognized by all the Three Fires. Overall, I am limited in much of what I used to do. I can only drum now but cannot achieve the ecstatic state of consciousness to journey without overexertion.
So now, I am picking up some hobbies. I plan on putting some practices to print- not through a company but bookbinding. I have done little booklets here and there but never anything worthy of a Tome of Mysterious Magic(k)! So, I will practice until perfection, which may be two lifetimes from now, but damned if I don't try now!
Another hobby will be writing my own material, and I am a critic of my own scripts. If something comes out of it I will bind my own work, for the giggles.
