Seeking simple grounding/anxiety rituals for high-intensity neurological stress?

Hello everyone. I wanted to reach out to this community because my household is currently navigating a very heavy period of physical and emotional stress. my wife has been under a high-intensity neurological siege (chronic pain/6 bulging discs) for 14 months, and I'm looking for additional occult tools to help manage my own high-level anxiety during this time.

of course, I am already working with a doctor on the clinical side—so this post is strictly about the spiritual/energetic layer and the research into supplemental practices.

I've experienced large levels of anxiety every day for years to the point where I've become "calibrated" to it, and while it doesn’t affect my function as much as it used to, it still creates a lot of "static" in my environment that I'd like to clear.

does anyone here have experience using specific magickal rituals to aid with these symptoms? I'm particularly interested in:

- sigil magick for long-term stabilization.

- grounding rituals or planetary correspondences (Saturn/Mars?) to help anchor the energy.

- chakra work specifically for clearing the "static" of a high-stress household.

Any guidance from the practitioners and seekers here would be deeply appreciated.

Try the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram. I find it grounds me well enough. Also, a tip for if and when you ever feel yourself having a break down or a panic attack (which is possible based on what you have said) splash your face with cold water about 10 times whever you feel it getting too much, it resets the nervous system due to the dive reflex kicking in. If that doesnt work, take an icy cold shower instead, that will definitely do it.

Oh man, that hits home for me. I grew up in a home filled with chaos and static. Sounds like you are calibrated for the environment, here is how I calibrated mine. Yeah, its just the human body doing what it does. More of a feature than a bug if we're being honest.

Grounding stuff? Seriously, go outside, get fresh air. Touch a tree. I'm not kidding. Feel the roots deep in the ground, feel the energy. It is grounding af. You can splash cold water on your face. Eat grounding foods (I can give ideas if interested). Get sunshine. I know, doesn't seem very arcane, or occulty. These will absolutely make a physiological and emotional and psychological difference. I use these techniques all the time.

Sometimes when we aren't grounded, another ritual isn't going to do anything, because you may not be grounded enough to affect anything the ritual is supposed to accomplish (Meaning your energy is all over the place so you wont be able to focus it enough for a ritual). This isn't a rule as everyone has a different tolerance level for stress, so that is important to consider.

Meditation is huge for this as well. Just meditate with the purpose of lighting up your chakras, also do mindfulness meditation. It will also help you with magick in the long run, so great thing to be doing anyway.

For chakras, focus on clearing root and heart. Anxiety stems from the root and disturbs the heart severely. You can do it through meditative practices for balancing these chakras, I think.

Try breaking/cutting cords with individuals who increase your stress/anxiety levels. You can do it in a ritual fashion if you like. Repeat until they leave you alone/your stress levels decrease.

There are some Goetic entities that should be able to assist, if you're into working with spirits, I'd have to double check.

I'll let you know if I think of more.

I could be wrong, but, the planetary corresponence for "grounding" is the one and only sun which shines consisently in spite of changes in the heavens.

If you have a nice sunny place for it, maybe a sunflower in a pot would help to reconcile the mood.

Just had another thought about this, I don’t know your household setup, allergies, tolerances, etc., so take this with a grain of salt and obviously check with docs if anything’s iffy.

Resins can also be a really big help here. They are used in ritual all the time. Use them correctly, and intentionally and they can boost ritual in massive ways, they can also altar our states of mind and body for the positive. This is not about what smells nice, like at all.

Skip commercial incense sticks, they’re basically Febreze on a stick, sawdust + synthetic scent. They smell nice, but they don’t do much chemically (basically garbage for ritual or affect). Resins are different. Historically, rituals used resins because burning them releases volatile oils that hit the brain/limbic system directly, frankincense lowers cortisol (actual studies on this), myrrh calms overactive mind, copal clears static. Tiny amounts can take the edge off without getting you high or sedated.

Simple combo to play with (start small, one resin at a time):
  • Frankincense (mainstay for anxiety/cortisol drop) + tiny pinch bay leaf (clarity + mild calm from linalool/cineole)
  • Or copal + small amount lavender flower (linalool-heavy, proven anxiolytic via inhalation - lol big words)
  • If you have access: micro amount high linalool hemp flower (not THC weed, just CBD-dominant.... or weed if you have some) with frankincense, same calming terpenes without psychoactivity. (You are not trying to get high at all, just take the edge off without getting buzzed either, that is not the point)
Burn on charcoal disk, small pinch, good ventilation. Don’t overdo, you’re not trying to fill the room, just get the subtle oils into your system while breathing deep. Pair it with the cold water splash, barefoot grass, grounding foods (heavy peppered beef, etc.) first. Once the static’s down a bit, then LBRP or sigils might land better because your energy’s focused instead of scattered.

This isn’t “the answer,” just something that’s helped me when the nervous system was screaming. We chemically alter our brains all the time (coffee, sugar, porn, aspirin, RedBulls) resins are just intentional about it for a positive shift. Play, see what clicks. There is a reason most rituals call for specific resins, they actually do something to our brains and nervous systems to help us contact sprits.

I actually have a bunch of experience with using natural incense such as pine resin , dragon blood , copal etc or things like mentholium. It is just something that is difficult to afford all the time for us so we haven't done it for a while and right now it is deep winter where we are so pine resin isn't really obtainable but yes I am glad you brought that idea back to my attention.

Pine resin is personally my favorite it definitely reliefs anxiety and stress, once it gets a little warmer I will make sure to go hunting for it again. Thank you for the advise!

Thank you for those ideas! Many of it is what I already used to do but sometimes as time goes on especially throughout long periods of time where things seem extra heavy / depressing I tend to forget those things. I used to regularly take cold showers and it did miracles for me. Sunshine is a good idea right now where we live there isn't much sunshine but should come out more soon.

Interacting with trees is something both me and my wife love to do , she can communicate to virtually all trees while I only had a few specific trees I felt like I was directly talking to. I also like climbing up trees it is a very empowering experience for me and helps me to connect to nature.
