As a lover of occult literature, I realise that there are two currents of thought, one that prescribes sexual abstinence as a path to the awakening of KUNDALINI, even scientists like Sigmund Freud advocated this philosophy and another preach to us a limitless occultism like Lavey's Satanism or Aleister Crowley with his Thelema "Do what you want" at the end as a novice we don't really know which way to take.
As with a lot of things, I don't feel it's productive to be team this or team that. I usually prefer to do the middle ground. I think abstinence in magical practice is helpful for a lot of things when used selectively and honestly not needed as an absolute for everything. I used to do boxing and pre-fight abstinence, in the strictest sense of the word, was amazing for increasing my aggression, will, and concentration during fights. I performed visibly better during fighting and sparring by doing that. I notice this effect in other areas as well when I hold back for 3-4 days. That being said, I don't feel it is necessary for magical practice to abstain if you don't feel like it. I have gotten valid results both being completely abstained and having not.
I feel there is a benefit to concentration and some magical force if done correctly, but it truthfully is not necessaryfor many operations. If you want to go the route of seeing things from the Kundalini perspective, then sure abstain all you want. If your system or practice requires abstinence by all means do it. But you will find yourself likely being able to do a lot in the same system even without it. Personal experience above all will dictate if you need abstinence to work it.

Sex is virtues transfer. This is why it is wrong for your wife to be having sex with another man and still live under your roof. As a man, you will never amount to much. Those who know, knows. Have you not noticed that it's easy to have sex come looking for you when you are looking for money and have done a spiritual work for money? Sex during serious ritual will render that ritual useless or reduce the potency. This because sex is a spiritual transaction. My summision, whatever is avoidable, should be avoided. There's no free sex, it comes with a cost. Sometimes, the cost is now and other times, it's in the future. Unless it's what you did, avoid multiple partners. There are rituals that needs you to have sex with as many women as possible, other than that, abstain while you're doing your ritual. Know what works for you.

Neither. Extremes are rarely good thing. Though abstinence for a short time can be beneficial, sexual frustration is not a good thing. Same with opposite, having a lot of sex can be useful, but can backfire too.
The usefulness of sexual abstinence is about putting your physical self under control. You deny the physical’s demands to essentially show the body who’s boss. You can’t demand that the rest of reality bends to your will if you can’t even do the same thing with your own little slice of reality. Same with fasting, meditation, keeping your word, setting aside time for your practice on a daily basis, etc…. It’s not about being pure it’s about deciding which is stronger, your will or your own basic animalistic urges. And then proving it.
Practicing celibacy while doing certain energetic practices that were sexual in nature (not going into more detail) obtained amazing results for me. Far more powerful than all the physically-based sexual practices I tried, and I experimented with a variety- including seminal retention durng sex and intensive Reichian work.
Such focus toward self control could also apply to extreme indulgence in a deliberate sense. This with an eye towards overcoming the general "self evident neuroticism" that seems to go with sex and culture particularly in the Western "anything goes" context.
Romance, on the other hand, is utterly out of the question. Burn it, stab it, beat it, throw it over a cliff.

Well, as you said in your post, it is all related to practice.
Some grimmoires I studied suggested abstinence, some didn't. For my practice of energy visualization I realized I performed better in both cases (when I abstained for 3-4 days and also when I didn't).
When it comes to the systems that talk about sexual cleanness and other things like that it mostly refers to conquering the lower side of the impulses and channel it somewhere else. I remember that there was a thoughts on NoFap thread here in the forums, in which I stated that the Svadhisthana Chakra (Sacral / 2nd Chakra) is also related to the creative principle and we can choose to direct that energy to creative pursuits like Art, Music etc instead of having it directed to sex. This especially is done if there are imbalances that tend to perturb the practice.
In conclusion, I think that it is better to not go to extremes in either case, hence the middle ground you said about. I, for one would not want sexual thoughts to perturbe my practice especially if it is related to some serious meditation but at the same time would not want to go to the extreme of cutting sexuality off entirely, as that would be really stupid as well.
I personally get a lot more power out of traditional grimoiric prescriptions of extended periods of sexual abstinence for ritual. One of my favorite things about it is that most people refuse to do it.
I'll agree with a lot of what is already here. "Teams" and extremes is a poor way to view anything. Demonstrating physical control has its place. That there's a lot of misconceptions about abstinence - personally, I see this manifesting as straight up misogyny more often than not. What I'll add is that abstaining from orgasms isn't the same as abstaining from sex with someone else. IMO, being synced with a partner physically and spiritually is better than not unless specifically listed as something to avoid in a ritual.
Abstaining from orgasms of any kind might be viewed the same as fasting, abstaining from alcohol, or meat, or other well-known breaks from fulfilling usual base physical needs. It's not universal, and each ritual will be different in terms of what might or might not help.
Either one day, 12 hours, or just the day of the operation, sexual abstinence is completely fine. For the longer purification method (7 days or so), prayers, confession, and abstinence from alcohol and meat are enough, in my experience. But this is just the way I roll.
