hey there.

curious about anyone's experiences engaging their "spirit teams" which are a concept I've found to pop up in a good many esoteric/folk magic systems.

I'll share a bit about my experience. looking forward to hearing yours!

first, what is a "spirit team" in my understanding? my family has been practicing Sanse/Espiritismo for generations. in Sanse they describe how every human is born with a "spirit team" made up of beings that decide to join your soul along this incarnation to help/live vicariously through you. who these spirits are depends on your soul's intend in this life, pacts made in past lives, and spirit work done by your ancestors to "curate" your team (for example, a Native American tribe creates pacts with deities to protect their tribal lineage - therefore children born to the tribe "default" get that/those protectors on their team). (PS: I didn't know this side of my family and only learned about their practices later, after digging around after my abilities started appearing)

I believe they have curated a strong team for me, and I've been trying to learn more about them and how to engage with them directly.

here's what they've done for me:

Friends who have vision see an aura of refracting light around me. In Sanse this is supposed to mean you have a specific kind of being on your team (allegedly "angel" but idk).

When practicing Rosicrucian techniques for accessing info (asking questions to the universe, sensing stories from objects) I was getting legit attacked consistently (my friend who has vision saw me encased in 1000 black hands), but the attacking beings couldn't touch me directly because the refracting light created an "armor" of sorts. I still got some physical symptoms of attack but was lot less bad than could have been.

When engaging with an upset spirit one time, me and my friend woke up with cuts. His was a lot deeper than mine (mine was barley a scratch). We think that I was protected by my team here.

I did automatic writing one time, where I asked my guides to talk to me: they basically told me that "they'd approach me when I would not expect it and ask me to open a door for them". Later I investigated this concept in Sanse and the known way to engage your team is asking a Sanse protector deity (Papa Legba) to open a door so that only your team can communicate through it (protecting you from accidentally engaging with a false being).

I get omens and signs from them ALL THE TIME, little gifts and "jokes" between me and them that they drop for me. This has been happening for like 3 years ever since I unlocked something.

they give me my "fave number" as a pointer that I'm going in the right direction.

....

SO - with all that said, they're obviously (to me) helping me out on the daily, but I really want to talk with them. My divination with runes says that communicating via automatic writing, or some other rituals I've come across (Teal Swan, exercise for communicating with spirit team from YouTube) can be dangerous because I could receive communications from tricksters pretending to be my team member.

So, I've basically scheduled a time to go to a Sanse practitioner and do a proper seance to communicate with my team and "learn the name" of my team lead so that I can lock onto their signature and communicate with them directly solo. This is the recommended way of doing things in Sanse because it's "safe".

But I know there's many ways to skin a cat. Super curious to see what you all are doing on this end and to see if I can learn anything. Thanks!

If your family has practiced Sanse/Espiritismo for generations, there’s a good chance the team supporting you now is the same one that supported your family before. Or it may be a new team formed specifically for you when you were younger.

The easiest way to connect with them is to focus on them with clear intention because they’re already with you. Since you’ve already scheduled with a Sanse practitioner, follow through, it can help you put a name to a face and strengthen your connection with your guides.

If you want information about yourself, you can go directly to the Akashic Records or ask your guides to relay it to you. You won’t be able to verify it through other methods.

My family didn’t practice, so my guides only began showing up after I opened myself up. It didn’t happen all at once, every so often, I’d meet someone. My guides don't just swing by every once in awhile, they decide to stay. I don’t usually talk about this unless the other person is also speaking with their guides.

Thank you for sharing. How did they show up for you? How did you get to know how to "direct" communications to them?

"The easiest way to connect with them is to focus on them with clear intention because they’re already with you." - this makes sense, but it's hard for me to abstractly connect w them bc I don't know what they look/feel like yet. This is why I gravitated to doing the ceremony w the Sanse practitioner.

They show up for me in all kinds of ways throughout my life. At this point, they’re my family and friends now. Is there anything specific you want to know about how they show up for me?

I was able to communicate with them shortly after my first guides arrived, and I’ve been hearing them since then. That’s also why I don’t meditate because I don’t need meditation to hear them or connect with them. But everyone’s timeline is different, so you don’t want to use it to compare experiences.

For me, they’ll let me sense what their current feels like before we meet. And if it helps you connect to them by knowing what they look like, when you see a Sanse practitioner, bring a pen and papers. Ask your guides to show themselves to the practitioner and have the practitioner describe what they see. Then write down the details and use that as a starting point for building your connections.

Wow. I've been working hard on meditation and quieting the mind so that I can engage with them. This sounds so easy for you haha. How long have you been able to engage w them? What did you do beforehand to prepare yourself?

So, you can "hear" their voices directly, or just sense what they are communicating to you? That's so cool that you guys are friends now!

Did something trigger your first guides arriving? You said they let you "sense what their current was" before you met. I'm not sure (tbh all this is new to me and still figuring out what is my intuition and what might be imagination) but on two occasions when discussing them with a friend I've been practicing with, I got two particular feelings: one sort of a heavy on the chest feeling, and another a shiver on the upper back. Repeatable.

Do you know how many guides you have? Their names? Preferences? Do they have unique personalities? Is one of them "in charge" and the others subservient?

Do you know what they like and do you try to help them with their aims in gratitude (in Sanse there is a concept of honoring your guides, buying them little treats like cigars and putting it on an alter for them).

IK it's only so useful to compare experiences: but what I'd like to have the case is to be able to communicate with them at will, ask them questions, chat about life. Like what you say.

I’ve been engaging with them for 14 years. I don’t prepare anything except grounding. I think people focusing on fasting, or changing their entire diet, or basically torturing themselves to get to a certain state is unnecessary.

I hear their voices in my mind. And my first guides arrived when I opened myself up to spirituality, like I believe there are more out there and I want to know more.

Yup, what you described is what I meant by “sense their current.” You’re already ahead if you can sense their current. In your case, you feel a heaviness on your chest, kinda like when someone hugs you and presses their chest against yours. And another is a shiver on your upper back. Those are indicators of two different guides of yours.

Over time, you’ll be able to tell who is who. And hopefully once you visit your Sanse practitioner, they’ll give you more info about your guides. Or the next time you sense your guide, you can ask right away for an initial of their name or something, and see if there’s any more sign afterward.

I do know how many guides I have, their names, etc. I have a lot of them, so I’d rather keep the number to myself because people just think I’m lying when I say it, unless they can sense the current of my words and tell what I’m saying is true. But I don’t have anyone in charge. Everyone is equal here.

I do honor them, and I do it the way they prefer to be honored, and by communicating directly with them instead of hearing it from another source.

And yeah, I believe it’s something to treasure to be able to hangout with your guides.
