People are talking about Severance these days, it seems. I gave it a quick glance and its obvious what its talking about is initiation into a true secret order and the divide between eso and exoteric personas it brings. Its not even hidden as its totally blatant but most will never see as they're too busy looking. "The Work" being mysterious and important was such a tell as its merely fluff to fill the time between rituals to keep them tuning in without truly seeing the bigger picture. As with any hierarchical structure the next is always a little less ignorant but still in almost as much darkness as the ones behind them when it comes to really getting it.

Its designed to be baffling with information drip fed. Until Prometheus rises. Or descends. Was surprised to see it put out there so blatantly though. Wondering if anyone else noticed? Signs and symbols were laid on super thick. Had me wondering exactly why someone would chose to do this, now. Its popularity was another tell.

After my expierence I think a lot of media has a lot of reference to occult practices. That could be me just projecting though due to it being on my mind a lot.

I think one example is Knights of Guinevere. I don't think it just criticizes Disney but the way in which occult symbols or people can be stripped of all meaning and turned only into a bottom line. I've heard of some magic being able to help finances but thats still only some. Thats not all of it. Don't want to judge if thats how some people use magic because sometimes you really do need money. Or even if someone just wants it.

Guinevere herself in the show is turned into a marketable symbol despite openly not wanting to be. She tries to escape in the first minute and the need for perfection in her image is intense. Even the name Knights of Guinevere with other people pointing out its an acronym for K.O.G.

In the first pilot episode of the show I think it reveals Guineveres

spoilers for the first pilot.

In it Guinevere protects her "knights" at the end from the Arthur bot that was chasing them. Even the association with the color cobalt blue is from what I heard from others a color thats protective. So is Guinevere pulling double duty? She seem originally designed for protection so was there someone originally going to be the mascot?

I don't know fully since only the pilot episode came about but Knights of Guinevere seems to have a lot of occult symbolism from my perspective.

I think that "secrets" in the movies are those that are no longer secrets but already had entered public knowledge somehow. The movies however themselves are important today because they shape how "common folk" think and understand things. I can honestly say that I'm definitely affected by games and movies.. ...An example comes to mind: Conjuring movies and modern exorcism of some Christian churches.

Also, first Dr. Strange movie had quite interesting take on astral travel.

This video came to my mind, I set up time when the topic of movies comes in.

The book on the background of the guest, The Exorcist Effect, I started reading and I must say, that it's really good to the topic of movies and religion, specifically horror stories.

I would push back on this a bit. Severance was pretty cool, but as it was filmed in 2020 (if I recall correctly), the isolation and being filmed indoors like it was somewhat a consequence of the time. It's also intentionally based around a lot of creepy, liminal, "existential hell" type scenarios and previous media.

Personally, I always took the whole secret society thing to be a combination of Silicon Valley founder-worship and taking that to a religious level. It always sort of struck me as trying to combine that with Mormonism and some 1984-style themes. Personally, I saw very little of it as truly occult in nature, and more so toying with the themes as a way to up the creep factor for hardcore secular materialists. Those aspects didn't make sense and weren't supposed to make sense, and allowed the viewer to interpret them however they like to save the writers time. It's like not showing the shark in Jaws, it scares people more to let their imaginations do the hard work. So if you saw the occult, that's because it's your grounding point. I saw it as a mish-mash of details intended to confuse me because I always expected Lost meets The Office - tons of questions, rarely answers. Fortunately, it didn't end as badly as Lost did.

It was a good show, I really enjoyed it and thought it did give a lot of questions about existential crises in anyone's life.
