Spirits and noise

Whenever I'm in a place with a lot of spirits I often detect a "cracking" kind of noise. Do you know what I mean? What do you think the links are between said events?

I get cracking but sometimes loud pings like a ballbearing on a metal sheet. Other times it is a high pitch riding in my head. I often try and take them as a sign to focus on the thoughts that were in my head at the time. I feel it is almost like a confirmation of being on the right path

How are you determining a place is a high spirit traffic area? Also, have you worked on developing your clairaudience at all? That might yield interesting results.
