It's my opinion that when I first got 9nto collecting cassette tapes, I wanted to know who the influences and samples were, so I would read the cassette cover jackets and take the gamble on listening to utterly good or horrible influences.
Same with occult reading or reading in general. Recommended books. Suggested books. Required reading.
And each of their bibliographies.
Every magician needs to study, yes, and practice three times more.

This is not a complete list for me, this is what I'm working through for the Neophyte and Zelator grades. I don't comprehend and memorize well, so I tend to be a Practicing Armchair Magician.
This is not a complete list.
I recommend all new magicians read at least the suggested/recommended/required list by SkullTraill, practice those, then read the bibliographies of each. Twenty pages read each day is on average thirty books read a year. The elemental grades are on average six years. That is 180 books read. Minimum.
I don't count myself out from reading the recommended read list by the way. I am slowly working through it.
Adding Magical Trilogy (McCarthy) to my reading list this year.
