Hey everyone,
I’ve been revisiting the Book of Enoch and the broader Second Temple apocryphal corpus, and it got me reconsidering the operative potential of the Grigori (the Watchers) within historical and contemporary occult praxis.
Most mainstream modern occultism tends to funnel fallen or antediluvian currents into either standard Goetia/infernal hierarchies, modern Luciferian currents, or generic Left-Hand Path frameworks. Even within Christian mysticism, the Watchers are largely treated as an cautionary mythos rather than operative entities.
However, the specific lore surrounding figures like Shemyaza, Azazel, Baraqiel, and Kokabiel, celestial beings stationed to observe, falling through terrestrial attraction, and initiating humanity into metalworking, herbalism, astrology, and enchantments, suggests a very distinct current of forbidden gnosis, hubris, and primal celestial-chthonic currents.
Does anyone here know of, or actively work within, an occult tradition, grimoric system, or modern magical framework that places the Grigori at its core?
