It depends on your interests in Taoism. Of course start with the Tao de Ching (Daodejing) and then it's numerous commentaries. Actually learn to cast and work with the Yi Ching /I Ching. Taoism can be viewed as a path to Immortality meaning life extension really (life extension to 120-160 years for example). However the purpose of the Immortality is to attain enlightenment. This is usually accomplished through the cultivation of qi or life energy (of which there are three different types). And qi cultivation varies between qi qong - mostly standing exercises but not always standing exercises - and nei gong - forms of meditation to cultivate the qi. Tai ji is it's own thing but it can be seen as a kind of qi gong and is very effective for that purpose (the other two main internal Chinese martial arts Xing Yi and Ba Gua are also effective for qi cultivation). More recently more has been revealed to the public about Taoist magic mostly from Benbell Wen but also from other sources. A simplified form of nei gong is Mantak Chia's teaching about the Microcosmic Orbit. It's not wrong but there is more to it than he has taught but it can be seen as an okay starting point and actually this used to be very secret and impossible or nearly impossible to train in. The classics on taiji, xing yi and ba gua are good but they are almost all written by martial artists who tend to talk about qi cultivation secondarily. And they take a lifetime to really master.
