I have a very well used Radiant Rider-Waite Deck, and have called both LHP and RHP brings to aid in the divination.
I am considering either cleansing it and using it for self discovery alone, or discarding it in some way. I don't necessarily want to get rid of it, but really I'd rather just clear the deck of energies and formally consecrate it.
However, it is pretty dog eared by now.
Time for a new deck?

Apply the same consideration you would to furniture. A beat up old couch might give you the most comfortable sleeps, or it might knot your muscles in confounding ways. Which does this deck do for you? If it is time to bring in something new, is your old deck ready for the trash bin or just to be tucked away and pulled out occasionally? Like the couch you might move to your basement for guests or occasional nostalgia.

I bought a deck for the only use to let my disciples use and touch it. That was in 1980. It became my beloved deck eventually and was always a perfect partner. Never thought that could happen.

I really want to try a few decks out there. Id like to find one not based on Rider Waite necessarily, though I will still repurchase a RW deck to have on hand since Im accustomed to it. However, DuQuettes CM Deck, the Quareia deck, the Magicians Tarot, these are ones Id buy first.
However, now there are oracle cards, angel cards and ... what about mystical tarot cards or oracle cards?

there're fewer oracle/angel cards 32 or less than taro cards 78 so if we use the analogy of the market of less supply to the same or grewater demand they must be worth more

As long as you feel your current deck or decks work for you I wouldn't say you would 'need' to get rid of it or anything.

I've known people who have used a deck they loved until you could barely make out which cards were which 😅

As far as trying something other than the Rider Waite may I suggest a 'Pip Deck' like the Tarot De Marseille or 1JJ Swiss.

Learning to use a Deck like that is akin to learning to drive a stick shift in a car....Once you can read with a Pip Deck you can read with ANY other Tarot Deck like if you can drive a Stick you can drive any other car.

I like Oracle cards too and especially if you use them in tandem with a Tarot Deck. You can ask a question and a Throw a few Oracle cards down and then ask for Clarification and throw some Tarot down next to them or Vice Versa and use them together for a well rounded reading as they play off one another.

It's hard to recommend a specific Oracle Deck though because there are 1000's of them available. I would suggest looking at them until you find one that really resonates with you and speaks to you through the imagery.

Awesome advice, thank you :)
Yeah, its not much random guessing with my deck on psychic training, as I can tell from scratches, warps or tears that this card is X.

For just divination you can use oracle cards. All other purposes, for education or high magic, you need a tarot.

, volume III, number 5, Crowley cursed anybody who would use his deck for divination. That is because of the above mentioned. Like spelling YHVH to Jehova. Hashem Halil, a shame, a waste.
